You need to make a videogame version of The Ring! That would have flipped my shit if that happened while I was watching that movie.nickfil wrote:asking too much.Niode wrote:Seriously though, I'd just like to have a game that is a seamless experience, no glitches or stupid clipping issues would be nice.
I would be excited for a game that is able to recognize and incorporate other devices on my network into the game play.
for example... playing a horror game my character walks into a dark room. He looks at one small television covered in blood turn on and then a couple more until slowly the room is flooded with light. Then my computer wakes up from sleep mode displaying the monitor covered in blood. Then my phone calls me and it is some kind of weird "call from within the house" kinda thing. Then my IP address gets pinged and a letter from an ingame character gets mailed to me giving me clues or expanding on the game somehow.
You know- something like that would be really fun.

I have it in my Amazon wish list. It's called Missing: Since January.Ack wrote:Actually there was a game that did something like that, though I believe it was more of a mystery adventure game. It would send you emails and such. Can't remember the name, though.

There is a Game of the Year edition too.

You know the Black Cats level of CoD WaW? I wish they would have made that a multiplayer map where you can fight as a team on the plane against the other team on a plane with one person acting as the pilot and others as gunners and whatnot. People could also man the boats. Just one map like that would be cool and would break it up a little bit you know?
Re: What do you wish videogames did that they don't already do?
I wish a game made me feel like my decisions actually mattered. I mean, if I make bad decisions that lead to my character's demise then I have to retry or I miss out on seeing future content of the game. That's about the extent of making choices matter in games. And forget about small choices having an impact, usually doesn't matter whether we kill a character or not. I would like to see something where I really felt something for characters where I actually might care about them enough to NOT shoot them, despite having the option to do so in the game and the fact that "it's only a game" keeps me from ever really feeling too attached to game characters. The only characters I've ever really cared enough about in a game that I would not kill them are the colossi in Shadow of the Colossus, and I really didn't have much choice to NOT kill them if I wanted to play the game.
I guess games like Fable or Knights of the Old Republic provide one option for how decisions matter, but really it's such a black and white view of morality (be good or be bad) that it's not that compelling to me.

JT, you should really try Mass Effect 2.J T wrote:I wish a game made me feel like my decisions actually mattered. Yeah, I haven't tried that one yet. It looks nice. I'm hoping for some nice Steam sale to come along and then I will pick it up. I still haven't played through the first one though.

You don't have to beat Mass Effect to play Mass Effect 2, but it would definitely change the outcome of things. Important pieces of the plot are affected by your actions in the first game, and certain plotlines continue over from it. And as a stand-alone title, there are many important decisions that will affect the game later, such as ship upgrades and character loyalty quests. Make one decision over another and a character may die in the end...or in the lead up to the end. Hell, it's actually possible to wipe the entire party(it's the ultimate Bad Ending).
