Yeah that's one thing that I really don't like about SFIV and SSFIV for that matter.bobbynewmarkiii wrote:I don't know whether to get this or not - I had SFIV, but didn't think that much of it - I much prefer TvC. SSIV looks better than SFIV, as it's faster, but I didn't like the revenge mechanic, nor the over-long cutscenes when the ultras were executed... seems like all of that is still there. I'd love to keep up to date with the genre, but if i know I won't like it...

Anyone else finding the computer impossible if you are using a character that doesn't have projectiles, and you are fighting a character with a command grapple?
I was playing as Dudley, against E.Honda, on Medium - fucking Medium - and had to continue about 8 times before I finally said "Fuck this shit" and quit.
The computer is like the Iron Curtain, blocking every attack perfectly, regardless of how much I mix-up.
If I try to Focus Attack, he'll use his Focus Break immediately - which, of course, would require a normal player to charge back for 3 seconds, hit forward and punch.
If I try to Jump In, he'll use his anti-air immediately - which, of course, would require a normal player to charge down for 3 seconds, hit up and kick.
If I try to hit him with my Machine Gun Blow, he'll always do his command grab, which takes priority in a huge way.
There's just nothing I can do. I can't figure out how I'm supposed to possibly beat him.

Re: Super Street Fighter 4
It's only 2 seconds of charge (based on the in-game counter, not real-world seconds), and it can be done at any time.the7k wrote:would require a normal player to charge back for 3 seconds, hit forward and punch.
Outside of the end bosses, the main characters don't "cheat". They're ruled by the same limitations you are. And just like a human player, if you see Honda crouching, there's a good chance he's holding down-back, which means he's charged and ready for either F+P or U+K type moves. Ditto for Guile.
With charge characters you can charge moves anywhere, any time. The opening "round 1, fight!" stuff allows you to charge (and pull a move off the moment the round begins). doing a move allows you to charge. e.g.: charge back, hit F+P for a ball attack, and immediately charge back again. By the time the ball connects, rebounds and you land on the ground, you're charged for the next one. From here it appears you're knocking out rapid-fire ball attacks without charge in between.
Ditto for anything. Honda has some pretty long and slow heavy punch/kick moves. While one of these is coming out, you can easily be charging for something else.
This is all pretty "Street Fighter 101" stuff. I still remember back in the SF2:WW and CE days people complaining my Guile/Blanka/Bison/Balrog play was "cheating" because I'd pull moves out "too fast". And this was on arcade machines too. Understand what the game engine will and won't let you do, and abuse it like crazy. (Not to mention learning how to beat the computer AI in the process).
Re: Super Street Fighter 4
Well, regardless, it was just impossible for me to beat him. Seriously, I tried everything I could do.
Luckily, next time I played through with Dudley, I didn't have to fight Honda.
Oh yeah - holy crap, T.Hawk. I hate the character, but Jesus Christ. He's 360+P move is epically devastating. I've never really used T.Hawk in all my life, and I actually managed to have Akuma challenge me at the end of my T.Hawk playthrough. Holy crap.
Pretty much, the entire time I was playing through with T.Hawk, I just let people beat the crap out of me - because it didn't matter. I'd just let them hit me, and as soon as they were through, command grab. Bam. Next fight, please. Even Seth was a complete push-over. Ridiculous.

Re: Super Street Fighter 4
Yeah. T.Hawk is a fucking joke. I'm playing on Xbox live and have faced so many T.Hawks it's insane. It's the new Seth/Sagat. I was completely dominating one guy, I had around 60% health left (possibly more), all of a sudden he does his Ultra throw. That was it. I lost... from 60% health and I was blocking too.
And people complain when I'm just firing projectiles at T.Hawk... I'm not even going to get fucking close to him if all he has to do is Ultra and win despite me having 60% health and with my HP projectiles doing bugger all damage. The character was ridiculously overpowered in SFII, and he seems even more powerful in this.
Thankfully Blanka doesn't do quite as much damage as he did in IV, I can trounce every Blanka that I face.

Just gt the game yesterday and played with 2 mates for close to 6 hours. while the additions are awesome, it is really just more of the same, I will say though I utterly love playing with Juri, shes super easier with canceling, lovely character to play with.
Oh yea and the two 'colors' for owning SFIV, what a joke that is is there exclusive for owning the first.

Re: Super Street Fighter 4
Played quite a few matches tonight. I've actually won 5 matches in a row, however 3 of those pulled the fucking plug on me. EXTREMELY pissed off. Pissed off because I fucking won so many games in a row and have 3 of them count for nothing, but pissed off because it's cost me 2 fucking achievements that I may never get again. ARGH!!!
Is this game really worth the fucking hassle?
