Homeschooled Kid Thinks He's a Ninja and Attacks People
Re: Homeschooled Kid Thinks He's a Ninja and Attacks People
The commentary was based on the topic of home schooled kids getting slanted educations based on their parents' irrational beliefs that has been discussed for 3 pages.
Re: Homeschooled Kid Thinks He's a Ninja and Attacks People
It would take some very unusual circumstances for to have a child of mine to be home schooled. The only home schooled kids I know of are either this guy Chris Studley (not a stud at all, and smelled funny) or the kids I see on the tv show Wife Swap.
I'm not for home schooling at all. Being able to work with groups, or even dealing with bullies/the opposite sex/etc. isn't something you get from home schooling.
Plus, ninja's don't use machetes. Machetes aren't made to slice through things. They're dull for a reason.

Re: Homeschooled Kid Thinks He's a Ninja and Attacks People
Both of my sons are currently home schooled. They learn nothing about religion from their schooling. In fact they attend a virtual public school from home that has a better curriculum and certified staff than the public schools in my area.
It might be hard for some people to believe but the reason they are home schooled is because they weren't learning what they needed to in public school. Now my oldest son aces his FCAT at 2 grade levels above his own. In public school they had behavior problems and now I get compliments on their behavior all the time when we are out.
Sometimes it is just the right choice. Not to mention that if you do it right it requires a big sacrifice and commitment on your part. It is easy to toss them into the hands of strangers and not worry about the effects it can have on them or their education. To do something about it takes some selflessness.
I'm not saying that the religious cult type people don't home school their children but there are a lot of serial killers, rapists, thieves, etc... that attend public school and it wouldn't be fair to make that correlation either. The funny looks or superior attitude about my children's education choices are nearly always associated with a prejudged stigma instead of real knowledge on the topic.

You know, if your going to replace a letter of the f-bomb to try and make it censored, the "i" in "ing" is not the letter to replace. It leaves the entire core word intact. It's sort of like having a no-blood filter in a game that only the sound of the blood splatting, but you can still see the blood squirting out of the wounds.scrotumwound wrote:to summarize article

then divided and conquered one kid
then ran
sounds like a ninja to me
has bow & arrow , sword
machete? what
wait not ninja
although the victim is a fuck#ng idiot
Also, I am home schooled. And I've never thought I was a Ninja. Just putting up a disclaimer there.

Being a public school teacher, I will not join in this debate. To me homeschooling is a topic similar to politics and religion where you don't discuss or share your point of view unless necessary - its a personal choice. Like I said I won't join the debate, but I do have a comment that I hope is not seen as bashing on homeschooling:
I wonder if his parents let him choose Ninjutsu as his Physical Ed credit towards graduation?

Well, now we will never know which side of the fence you are on.SpaceBooger wrote:Being a public school teacher, I will not join in this debate. Re: Homeschooled Kid Thinks He's a Ninja and Attacks People
Well it is obvious that I would lose my job if all were homeschooled, and I have had kids who were better off homeschooled. Just remember there are just as many good cases as crazy one in almost every situation.jp1 wrote:Well, now we will never know which side of the fence you are on.SpaceBooger wrote:Being a public school teacher, I will not join in this debate. But I thought the comment was funny. I would have chose Ninjutsu if I could have in High School.

This might not be much, but when I was Home Schooled I had some PC Apps that replaced traditional text books. What was the first lesson?Limewater wrote:This joke might be pretty funny if it had some sort of factual basis or provided some sort of illuminating insight or commentary.Jrecee wrote:Today's lesson, the science of Adam's Rib! Good job timmy! You're so good at science. You should be an astronaut!
"God created the heavens and the Earth. God is immortal (insert Dictionary definition of immortal). God has blessed man with curiosity (insert definition of curiosity) which made man superior to animals."
It just goes on from there. Good thing my mom didn't really take my homeschooling all that seriously until eighth grade. Also, Jreece, did you get that joke from the episode of The Simpsons with "The Leader"?

I guess I haven't seen that episode. Anyway, I wasn't suggesting that what I said was representative of all homeschoolers, or even the majority. I was just making fun of the ones that are like that.
