do you read book based on video game?
Re: do you read book based on video game?
Did anyone read the Resident Evil books? I kind of want them since I played the all the games, are they any good?
Systems: Sega Dreamcast(x2), Sega Genesis(x2), Sega Saturn, Sega CD, Genmobile (portable Genesis), FC Twin, PSX, PS2(x2), GBA, SP, Xbox 360, N64, Showcase Arcade
Re: do you read book based on video game?
I would consider reading books based on games.. IF by some freak accident all other literature on earth disappeared overnight.
Comics, on the other hand, can help explain a bit of the game's background without going overboard. F.E.A.R. for example has a ridiculously overused storyline that's been done much better in the movies, but the comic makes it a bit more interesting.
Now getting real authors to write game storylines is an idea I find much more enticing.

I have the Doom novels. I was really into them in Middle School...
Re: do you read book based on video game?
I've read 2 Doom books. Very banal.
The novelisation of MGS2 is also pretty sucky. It's basically 1 long transcript of the codecs.

If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.

I have an Unreal book. Never actually read it though. I used to read sonic the hedgehog comics and I had one of those mario choose your own adventure books. Did they ever make a Metroid choose your own adventure book? That'd be rad.

I generally like my story telling in one place. I like Lost, but I only watch the show and have never bothered with any of the online story based stuffed they've done. And when I play a game I don't usually go hunting down books based on it, unless it's a REALLY good story and honestly, how many games have that?

I used to have a few of those Nintendo Adventure and Worlds of Power books in early elementary school.

I agree. I used to watch Heroes and they did this a ton, and more recently Breaking Bad. Nope, I prefer the storyline that comes straight from the creators' brains, as opposed to something created by the marketing department.Gamerforlife wrote:I generally like my story telling in one place. I've read one Halo book and am currently reading one World of Warcraft book.
The Halo one was really good and the WoW one is also good so far. Although I really hate the game it's based on.
So yes I do, and all the ones I've read so far have been quite good.
Really excited for the Guild Wars novels.

I have never read a book based on a video game before that I can think of. I have, however, read a ton of Dungeons & Dragons novels. I know there is much better stuff to read, even much better fantasy, but I love how developed the worlds and mythology are and they are just fun.
