Hi everyone,
Last week I picked up a sega dreamcast with 6 or so games 3 controllers 2 memory cards and a rumble pak for 20.00 at a flea market. I didn't hook it up to play the thing because I was just going to put it on ebay. Well one of my friends gave me a vga adapter and he said just try the thing on the dc and try it using the regular video cables. So I tested soul calibur with both cables and I have not stopped playing the system in over a week. I am hooked. All the games that I used to love playing soul calibur(which I think is the best in the series), crazi taxi, doa2, nfl 2k2, street fighter, kof 99, the list goes on.
I had this system once before and all I had for it was mvc2 and thats all i ever played and then I got my ps2 and bought mvc2 thinking that the dc version was the weaker of the two so i sold my dc and the game to my friend for 40 dollars so I could get the ps2 version of the game. What a mistake. I have both games now and the dc version looks and plays better in my opinion. Bottom line This system kicks ass.
Just want to know though which games do look good on the flat screen with a vga cable and what are the must haves for this system. Please give me some thoughts thanks
It's 2010 and the dreamcast still kicks ass!!!!!

Jet Grind Radio still looks pretty damn nice.
Plus if you're a 2D fighting fan (which it sounds like you are), definitely grab Fatal Fury/Garou: Mark of the Wolves. It looks fantastic and the game is extremely fun.

I think all the 2D games will look like crap on a LCD, its way better to hook it up to a CRT tv. That's the reason why my Genesis has a dedicated CRT tv.
I love my Dreamcast for fighters too

Seems to be one of the advantages of being too poor to afford a HD LCD tele...DCsegaDH wrote:I think all the 2D games will look like crap on a LCD, its way better to hook it up to a CRT tv. That's the reason why my Genesis has a dedicated CRT tv.

You're not in bad shape. I honestly think that an SD signal on my flat-screen standard definition CRT television looks slightly better than an HD signal on my 720p LCD HDTV. I don't think I really gained much in the transition except a little bit of space.MikeyW wrote: Seems to be one of the advantages of being too poor to afford a HD LCD tele...
Of course, I don't have a 50'' screen, either. At that point, HD might be worth it.

Hey, good graphic are still good graphics regardless of the definition of the television. I'm still wowed by the graphics pumped out by my xbox 360 on my Sony CRT.

Same here. Component on my CRT is good enough for me, at least for right now. I don't need HDMI on an LCD to enjoy my games. The graphics look amazing regardlessMikeyW wrote:Hey, good graphic are still good graphics regardless of the definition of the television. And just for the record, I still think Dead or Alive 2 on the Dreamcast is one of the best looking fighting games that I've ever seen. Soul Calibur is right up there, too. But DOA2 still impresses me

I'd also recommend Fatal Fury as well; although it is a bit pricey as well as the last blade 2VincentX wrote:Jet Grind Radio still looks pretty damn nice.
