Either way, if you fix it or buy a new machine it is going to cost money.
I would say fixing it should cost around $900.00 - $1100.00 depending on how much you want to put into it.
Most likely you can get a 6 slot for around $900.00 In great shape.
But Fixing it up will bring you more enjoyment.

I'm no expert or anything but I would personally fix it up cosmetically and fit a regular old crt monitor in it (the $10-20 kind) then hook up a Dreamcast with a vga adapter and stick something like Soul Calibur in it.
You wouldn't have to sink much money in to it if you are a little handy and you could still get a nice arcade experience as long as you get a good set of controls.
Check youtube for some Dreamcast cabs. There are a lot of arcade friendly games on the system.

Why can't you just get a game from ebay? Just get something cheap like Neo Cup. When I bought my MVS the guy just gave me Neo Cup for free because it's not worth anything. Hell, you're bound to get Metal Slug at some point so why not buy it? It can be had for around $30-40. It's dead cheap on MVS.

But it still has the MVS board and all the necessary parts, een though I love the Dreamcast to death It would be a crime to rip this thing open and cram a DC in it.jp1 wrote:I'm no expert or anything but I would personally fix it up cosmetically and fit a regular old crt monitor in it (the $10-20 kind) then hook up a Dreamcast with a vga adapter and stick something like Soul Calibur in it.

I agree it would be nice to see it restored to original but if the OP doesn't have that kind of money it might be better as a Dreamcast cab than a pile of garbage. It is a cheap option for a real arcade experience. Besides, Soul Calibur is amazing in VGA.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:But it still has the MVS board and all the necessary parts, een though I love the Dreamcast to death It would be a crime to rip this thing open and cram a DC in it.jp1 wrote:I'm no expert or anything but I would personally fix it up cosmetically and fit a regular old crt monitor in it (the $10-20 kind) then hook up a Dreamcast with a vga adapter and stick something like Soul Calibur in it.

If the price is comparable then of course the better choice would be to keep it as a Neo cab.

Meh, I'm still against it anyway.jp1 wrote:I agree it would be nice to see it restored to original but if the OP doesn't have that kind of money it might be better as a Dreamcast cab than a pile of garbage. Plus hacking up the CP to add buttons and modding the CP for the DC's extra buttons would be way too much for too little in return.
