Haha, wow, I knew they could hold a charge, but not for that long. What do you think we be the best best? Clean out everything except the monitor, and let a pro mess with the electro-shock death parts?

Yeah, don't touch the monitor unless you're an electrician. Those things are death waiting to happen if you jab the wrong bit. Get somebody who knows how to repair CRTs to have a look at it if it doesn't work straight away.

Well fixing it will not be cheaper as you can buy working cabs on ebay for $300.00

As for people thinking making it a mame cab ruins it, that is only your opinion. I only made a suggestion as it would be cheaper. If you need to get a pcb board for the machine that will b3 $90.00 min.

oh here is my mame cab I hope it is real enough for you guys! lol

I at least own a machine. This is my first of 4 the other 3 are dedicated machines

I have a t2 oinball machine also. oh sorry for the crappy video it was all i had at the time I have more in hd somewhere on my youtube page.

My only problem with testing the monitor is if the thing needs to be all wired up with a cart in the slot to give any visual feedback, I'm going to have a problem. Does anyone know if any static or anything at all will happen (indicating a good/bad monitor) if turned on without a game or not completely connected? This monitor working will be either the "go" or "no go" on my project.

I had to replace my kneck board on my mame cab It is a wells gardner as I had already stated, it was not hard to discharge the monitor infact it was very easy and a monitor only actually holds a charge for 2 - 3 weeks. But there are how to videos on youtube and you can make or get the ground cable just remeber to put your right hand in your right back pocket incase you do get a shock that way the shock doesn't go straight to your heart! lol

Where'd you see that?!

Also, he's new at this and you're wrong. Arcade montor or no, CRT's in general can hold a charge for far far longer than 2-3 weeks. Unless I go pro I'm not stupid enough to risk tinkering with a monitor unless I'm qualified.

But in your defense a new monitor will hit the $250-$350 range and at that point the average fully working Neo-Geo cab is about $400-$500.

It depends on the monitor most have a turn on lead and power and ground. The lead is usaully a lower voltage and most likely cames from the pcb board when the power is switched on.

Look I have machines and I work on them all the time and if you leave the power switch on the cap draws down it is like a battery and the voltage will drop.
Just because you are scared to do your own repairs does not mean I can't.

I bought my machines on ebay except my mame cab and I didn't pay $400.00 - $500.00

I paid $300.00 dollars for marvel vs capcom from a local arcade It's not my fault you are willing to overpay.

Relax man, I'm just quoting my local Neo market and the average prices I see (whenever (if ever) they actually show up at all) and what I've experienced when dealing personally with CRT's.
