if he is not asian, then y does his shirt have an chinese charactor which means (lighten or thunder) also yes the hat and look at the freaking arcade machine of mk2. Also that costume is base off of chinese soldier , of course you wouldnt know this because you do not watch asian dramas. Closest thing to that probably be Big Problem in little china. and your right this is Ed Boon imagination but his imagination is based off of something else aka chinese soldier. Same as kung loa his outfit is also a chinese soldier uniform not a shoalin monk outfit.

Pulsar_t wrote:Raiden Asian? WTF are you on about? Is it because of the hat? That's Ed Boon's imagination for you. If anything I felt Raiden to be the least ethnic character in the series, besides the masked ninjas of course.

And Street Fighter has Raul Julia in it. Anything with RJ in it is more than watchable!

It's Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.

It's Big Trouble in Little China. And Raiden was based off of a character from that movie. A character with one of those hats who has the power of lightening.

Well, I do. I enjoyed Mortal Kombat:Armageddon. Hated Annihilation.

Anyone remember the Mortal Kombat tv show? I used to watch it. It was fun. Had some cool fight scenes too. Here's a link to a wikipedia entry on it. I think there are youtube clips for it too. Says a lot about how popular Mortal Kombat was that it actually had an actual tv show(and a real show, not an animated one)

What was that show that used to play on saturday mornings? It was like a karate championship and there were different rounds the "competitors" had to play. One had a bunch of ninjas coming out and they have to fight them off. Eventually it became even less of a "contest" and had some sort of masked ninja backstory and stuff.

You're probably thinking of this:

Yup, that's it. And the mention in the article about season 2 focusing on fantasy issues rather than real life issues mirrors my memory as a kid of it becoming more unrealistic and scripted.

Some might disagree with this but the DiC AoSTH cartoon was quite watchable. Robotnik was awesome in it! OTOH I found the SatAM and Sonic X to be crap.

After seeing the Kotaku post yesterday about game movies that don't suck, I can't believe I forgot to mention Avalon. It has the usual contemplative confusion of most Oshii stuff, but I like it a lot. It is one of those movies with many possible interpretations.

Its too bad that the US DVD is a terrible hack job. If you watch it in English they added a bunch of Ash talking to herself during quiet parts of the movie where nobody is speaking. It ruins those scenes. IIRC it was also dubtitled or something else was terrible about the subtitles if you watched it in Polish with English subs. It almost makes me glad I unknowingly bought a bootleg a long time ago.
