Xbox VGA cable?
Xbox VGA cable?
I've been realizing how amazingly gorgeous the system is (especially my beloved Ninja Gaiden Black) and have been unable to find a VGA cable for the system. Do they exist to buy anymore, or will I have to mod one up myself? Not my idea of a fun time.

The only one I've ever seen was a home made one and it was crappy looking but seemed to do a good job( except for a couple of the games being incompatible and displaying as green) the guy who made it posted it on xbox scene, beyond that component is gonna be your very best option. Unless there is somthing out there that I haven't seen.
I use component and it looks good except I keep hearing people say that Xbox1 is 1080p compatible ( only with modding I assume ) but I can't figure out how to enable it.

Here is one.

Not sure if it's MS brand or anything.
So would VGA be better than component?

I thought that it was the Xbox1 that the cable was needed for.Daigr wrote:Here is one.

The difference is fairly negligable between Vga and component

Yeah, that's the XBOX360 VGA cable in that link.
there are cables made for it. 2 problems with it though, not to easy to track down anymore AND they vary a lot in quality. (a good deal of them don't offer the higher resolutions that a well modded system can put out).
As for modding there are again several different ways to do it, the best of which requires tagging the sync off the internal clock of the XBOX and I wouldn't advise you to do if you are hesitant about building your own cable. The easiest way to make a cable though is fairly basic and just uses a LM1881 sync seperator to get the sync signals off the component signal (the green cable)... downside to the LM1881 is it isn't very good for reading text in NON-gaming scenarios.
All in all, unless you plan on putting Linux on your XBOX, your best bet is to just use the component cables. Unless your only high def video display is a monitor that only accepts VGA... then you should probably go with the 'X2VGA', it 45 bucks and does the conversion for you at a fairly good quality (just as good as component)... and would probably look better then a home built one. It also comes with extra s-vid/composite outs just in case you have any issues with the VGA mod (some games are bitches about it).
Oh, for those who have a 360. VGA cables don't give as high of resolutions as HDMI (for elite owners) or component. I don't know why, but I use HDMI in the living room on my 1080p and get true 1080p (1920X1080). In my garage I have my other 360 hooked up with VGA (as I only have monitors out in the garage, no TV's) until the most recent update I got the resolution maxed at 1280X768. But now it gets 1080p... weird (just checked it, I didn't have that option 2 weeks ago).
