I still haven't gotten a chance to play this, but I wanted to know - does it feel just like SF4, or does it feel like another entry in the series?
I heard someone say it felt like Alpha 2 to them when they played it at one of those Capcom events, but now I've been hearing it plays exactly like SF4, just slightly sped up.
I'll probably give it a shot at a friend's place or something, but if it does turn out to be just like SF4... I'll probably return it and wait for it to drop in price. Can't see paying $40 for an upgrade to a game I couldn't get into.

Re: The Super Street Fighter IV Racketboy Tourney Thread
Question, are SF4 and SSF4 going to be cross compatible in multiplayer?
Re: The Super Street Fighter IV Racketboy Tourney Thread
I'd put money down that they aren't cross compatible. I'm sure Capcom wants everyone to go out and buy their newest titles.DerekG52 wrote:Question, are SF4 and SSF4 going to be cross compatible in multiplayer?
After playing for awhile now I'm really into it. I did get my ass handed to me on multiplayer but I could beat the game on normal. I haven't been into a fighting game since Street Fighter 2 on SNES. I think this is the most fun I've had playing a fighter since then.

I'm curious because I'm a cheap bastard so if I could snag the original for $10 I would do that until the other one drops significantly.

They aren't compatible. It would be like Madden 2009 being compatible online with Madden 2010. It just doesn't work that way, even if it easily could.DerekG52 wrote:I'm curious because I'm a cheap bastard so if I could snag the original for $10 I would do that until the other one drops significantly.

to me, it feels like SF4 with an upgrade pack. the game speed is about the same. controls a bit different. graphics - same. the only thing that i know that is supported from SF4 to SSF4 is the costume pack you purchased online. one little thing i noticed (so far) is after you beat your opponent, you cannot kick or punch them on the last second anymore.the7k wrote:I still haven't gotten a chance to play this, but I wanted to know - does it feel just like SF4, or does it feel like another entry in the series?

Well, I just played it at a GameStop that had it set up.
To say I was 'underwhelmed' would be putting it lightly.
I started off with Dudley, Makoto and Ibuki. None of them seemed to transition into SF4 very well. Dudley's Cross-Counter is useless in this game, Ibuki just doesn't do enough damage and isn't fast enough to make up for it, and Makoto is... wow. It felt like she was fighting with concrete shoes.
If I did decide to actually get this game, I'd definitely use Juri as she's the only fast (well, fast for SF4, I guess), mix-up, offensive character in the game. In fact, even though it was definitely the first time I played as her, I was easily beating challengers - meanwhile, one of my SF3 mains Dudley and passing interests Ibuki, who I have played as a good chunk, would just get owned. Either the SF3 characters have been heavily nerfed, Juri is broken as hell, or both.

Yay SSFIV came this morning. Well, I say morning. The post didn't arrive until 12, but oh well. It's here now!
The intro is epic. I love it. Much better than the SFIV. Thank god that annoying song has disappeared and they've gone back to a medley of SF themes. I love the medley. Will probably be playing this (360) all weekend (yay for days off and bank holiday mondays) so feel free to add me into a party and/or challenge me.

Fuck.
They STILL haven't fixed the fucking online system.
Anybody want to buy a PAL copy of SSFIV mint condition (played once)? I'M DEADLY SERIOUS.
I had high hopes that this game would have implemented some sort of ranked matchmaking system. So y'know, people who are similar skill level can play with each other. That would make sense right, or am I absolutely out of my fucking mind? I've played 2 matches and each time been placed against some fucking god of the game with over 2000bp who absolutely destroyed me. I'm now watching the Replay channel just for an achievement. EVERY SINGLE MATCH has been somebody with several thousand BP against somebody with 0 or below 100bp. What. The. Fuck.
Seriously fuck this game. Why haven't they fixed this, and why the fuck has nobody mentioned it in the reviews? Every review I read said they had fixed it, I bought the game based on this but it was absolute fucking bullshit. I am so fucking pissed off right now.
