Unlocking characters in PAL tatsunoko vs capcom

Post by Curlypaul »

So I've read a few different sites and they all seem to say different things and none of them seem to be true. I've beaten Arcade mode several times with several capcom characters but still not unlocked frank west.

The sites I;ve read say you need to unlock 3 capcom end movies, but the movies arent in the PAL version and the stills we do get dont appear in the gallery so I wonder if the PAL version has a different unlock mechanism.

Also, what does save/load do in the options screen? I mean I know that it reads/writes to the memory but why would I want to do that when the game autosaves and doesnt have a concept of player profiles?

Lastly, is there a guide book for this game? cant seem to find one online. Wouldnt normally ever buy a book like but I love the art style so much I want to look at it in a book

You need to play in Arcade Mode, and finish the game with three different Capcom characters to get their endings.

Note that the character in question needs to land the final blow on Yami. If you merely have them as your partner and finish with someone else, it won't count. For example, if you pick Ryu and Gatchaman, fight Yami, do 99% of the damage with Ryu, switch out and land the last blow with Gatchaman, that counts as a Tatsunoko character ending.

I unlocked all the secret characters over a weekend. It's not difficult at all.

They mean the ending stills. And they only appear in the gallery once you've "purchased" them from the store using the "zenny" you earn from each game.

And take the time to play the mini-game in the credits. You can earn over 3 million zenny per game if you play that. It's tedious, but it will get you closer to buying everything in the store faster.

There are no profiles. Save/load is generic. If two people are using the same Wii with the same version of TvC, they can't have separate profiles.

Right cool, so although I've beaten it with several capcom players I need to buy the movies before it will let me play as Frank West. Didnt realise that I had to buy the movies first. Cheers for that.

I don't recall needing to specifically buy the endings to make characters appear. Just as long as you finished the game in the way specified (3 different Capcom characters for Frank, 6 for Zero, etc).

My memory is a bit rusty there, however.
