Comcast has shitty residential service, but their business class is not bad. If you are only getting internet, get a business account. It is unmonitored, uncapped, and the price for naked home internet and business internet is the same.
Cable providers have legal monopolys. In the town I live in there are only two fiber rings, Comcast and ATTs. So it is get Comcast, or get on ATTs with all the Cbeyond, Windstream, Sprint, Clear, and Nuvox folk.

Comcast is awful. They recently only give 26 channels if you don't have a digital tuner box. I have several TVs but was only using the digital tuner for two of them. Now the other TV are pointless since I don't watch anything below 26. The stupidist thing they do is with basic cable you don't get the TV guide network, but if you have digital cable you do, which you don't need it for because you have your own comcast guide with it.

I have 2 main ISPs where I live. Cox, and ATT. ATT is really good, they have good television too. But Cox sucks probably even more than comcast, They have okay television service and slow internet, but I only got a basic cable package for the same as ATT's "Holy shit I am never going to watch some these channels" package. Also, Cox's slogan is "Working hard for every smile"

I have Centurylink formerly Embarq and I have no complaints. No throttling, no price increases, no BS and good customer service. I only wish they offered a higher speed than 5Mbps in my area.
Re: Comcast wins the award for worst company in America
I once got a hold of a customer service rep's manager fro suddenlink. I dial his number directly anytime I have a problem, at whatever time a problem occurs.jp1 wrote:<snip> no BS and good customer service. I only wish they offered a higher speed than 5Mbps in my area.
One time I called about an internet outage, and explained that I worked at home, and that I was losing money because of their poor quality service. The rep said, "Well, we have a business package, it's less than double what you pay now. Would you like to upgrade?". My response:
"Let me answer that with a question for you. Would you upgrade and spend more on a service that can't even seem to function reliably at the base level?".
Suddenlink also always uses the "we don't have a contract" excuse, a lot. So, once I decided to quit my landline phone service from them, they said, "We'll need your modem back".
I told them that when I added the phone service, the tech took the old modem. "Well, you'll have to purchase a new modem, and we'll need yours back". So I asked them if that meant I had to pay extra out of my pocket because I was switching my plan. They responded "Yes, That is exactly what it means". I respoded:
"Show me where it says that in the contract".
Their response, "We don't use contracts".
I shot back, "Well, seems you're going to have a difficult time proving that I owe you jack".
They ended up backing down, but not without having several reps call and argue with me.

Any company that has serious ideas about limiting bandwidth to 5 GB a month is a company that automatically makes its way onto my shit list. Consumers aren't stupid; we know when we're being taken advantage of, and we won't stand for it.
