Racketboy Magazine

Post by Jrecee »

Magazines; those things you used to flip through to see screens of megaman 6. Or to find a walkthrough for Sonic 3.

We all like retro stuff like this, so what if there was a racketboy magazine? With a new issue coming out quarterly. Would anyone buy it? Would anyone work on it? Would the cost be practical? I know there's places that will publish a book or comic for decent fees.

I think it would be cool. . .

I would buy it the second I see it. Besides retro gamer magazine, most of the magazines today are filled with nothing you cant find on the internet.

I would buy it as well. This forum is one of the definitive places to go for retro gaming, I can only imagine what a full print magazine would have in it. Retro reviews? Everything from magazines circa 199*? Chock full of reviews and articles. You could make it a user-submitted thing as well.

Devil's Advocate:

Printing costs would be way too high. For our small group, each magazine would cost upwards of fifteen bucks for a hundred page issue to just break even.

Who would advertise?

I'd do it journal-style, like Game Spite. Maybe themed issues (so say something like a Dreamcast issue -- which is pretty duh for Racket :) -- where iit would collect all the Dreamcast related articles, etc). The journals that Gamespite puts out are print on demand. And hell, even a few advertisers (retro stores, etc) could make it totally worthwhile.

Take the route that Dungeon and Dragon Magazine did and make it a pdf magazine.
