Sweet Video game finds (literally)/Battery doors for NGPC?

Post by milkmanv1 »

Ok heres a pretty interesting story for ya. My mom inherited a house from my great grandma, and theres a big field which is part of the property that I'm responsible for, in terms of cutting the grass atleast. Yesterday morning I was cutting the grass for the first time this year, and after a few minutes of cutting I see some stuff in the grass....I walk over and notice there are 2 little bundles of gaming joy in the grass.

This is where it gets interesting, what was in the grass? A glacier gameboy advance, and a silver NGPC. Neither of them have any games, batteries or battery doors on them, and they both have pretty scratched screens. I pick em up and nestle them in a tree to grab later. After bringing them home and testing em. They both work perfectly fine!!! There is a street pretty close to the field, and I assume some kid didn't want them anymore and threw them there.

I ordered a new battery cover and outer screen for the gba with no problems, as that one was scratched up worse. I plan on throwing an SP screen or an afterburner in that bad boy to front light her up.

And now for the NGPC... I can live with the scratched screen, but where on earth can I find a spare battery door?! Ebay is not helping...suprisingly

A lot of NGPCs don't have a battery cover for them. I learned that when I was searching for one. When mine comes in the mail, I hope that I can find something similar to the NGPS'c battery back. (maybe from a remote control or something)

Lucky find, I wish I could've just stumbled onto an NGPC.

you know finding GBA didn't bother me, that's not that weird.. But I was really confused when I saw the NGPC... I mean, what kid would even have a NGPC to leave in a field to begin with???

Edit: I would have been happier if it was a color varient of the NGPC, not that I mind stumbling upon a free one, but I already have a silver one!! haha, beggars can't be choosers.

Dude that's an awesome story! Makes me want to go find grass to cut!

It's pretty amazing the way people don't take care of their stuff. About a year or so ago my girlfriend and I were in Monterey on a date and we're walking down the street to get to the pier when this car goes by and something flies out of the window. It makes a pretty good sound when it hits the ground, so both of us are trying to figure out what the hell it is. Once we got closer, we realized it was a pink GBA! So in a fit of semi-dangerous nerdism I quickly ran out in the street during a small car-less window of time and grabbed it. It worked just fine, still had batteries and everything. It had a multigame pirate GB game in it, which was pretty amusing. Definitely one of my weirdest videogame-related stories.

haha good thing you were there and grabbed it before it was run over!

I really don't get how people can be so careless either, I hang onto my crap, and only if it's something I wanna get rid of that other people would use, I'll try my friends, then try selling it.

Not really a video game find, but it was a pleasant surprise about video games. I recently ordered an NGP (not color) from eBay to keep my occupied while I look for a Neo Geo Pocket at a good price (which I did find). Oddly enough, it turned out to be a Neo Geo Pocket Color. I guess the seller forgot to mention it was a color. Nice little surprise.
