Me and my friends had a running joke that nintendo had a time release mechanism on that handle so it would detach and hit the ground causing it to break and forcing you to buy a new one. Then my other friend while holding the handle dropped it down a flight of stairs. It was at that moment we realized the GC was indestructible!

Everything Nintendo makes is indestructable. I've heard countless stories of systems going out windows and surviving, and we've all seen the Game Boy that got hit with a bomb and still works.

I do agree that Nintendo makes very reliable hardware but I don't think that track record has been so spot free in the last 6 years. My NDS lite had a hinge crack after 1 week, and my first Wii bricked after the most recent official firmware update which seems to not be a rare occurance.

I'd argue the bricking is a software bug, and not the result of you dropping your Wii out a second story window.

while i was dismantling the gamecube my uncle and i were joking about the handle... he said something like, "some kid skipping down the street holding his gamecube by the handle singing 'i'm goin gaming'" maybe u had to be here, it was funny. but yeah, no pics... i have to get my hands on some digi pic taking device and then actually find out how to upload pics. never did that

Actually, mine were both broken by my sons. Thing is they have owned all the other handhelds without having any problems. The DSL is designed for adults. At the very least they should have made a kid friendly version.
