As stated earlier, power on and go. A good 30 buck investment, no configurations headaches, easy install of CD and DVD games. HDAdvance is the permanent disc in your PS2. For the tricky games such as God of War, HDLoader is on the hard drive.gtmtnbiker wrote:So there are three options for the OP:
1. Spend $30+ for HD Advance
2. Try to install Free McBoot yourself using the noobie package from psx-scene.com. (free!)
3. Send a memory card plus return shipping to me or another Free McBoot installer. ($2-3 total). It takes up less than 2MB of your 8MB memory card so you can still use it for game saves.

FreeMCBoot is also "turn on and go". It does everything you could want too. Free but for the cost of postage. It'll even work if your laser is bad. There's really no reason to use anything else.

QFT. I have one Fat PS2 with a dead laser that I'm still able to use because of Free McBoot.Hatta wrote:FreeMCBoot is also "turn on and go". It does everything you could want too. Free but for the cost of postage. It'll even work if your laser is bad. There's really no reason to use anything else.
