s-video for 32x

I have been looking at upgrading all of my consoles to s-video. I really want to get s-video out of my 32x with out having to buy the xmd 3 unit, even if i wanted to I can not find one for sale. I know they make s-video cords for the Saturn, N64, Gamecube, and SNES. Does anyone know if those cords work good? My last question is why did they not just make an s-video cord for the gen and/or 32x and is modding a 32x for s-video possible?

Modding the Genesis for S-Video is possible but you can't get that signal without tapping it. For CRT's I find S-Video is pretty much perfect too, it's really worth getting.

So modding the Genesis gives it S-video and the Sega CD if you want since it runs through the Genesis but the only problem is the 32X since it takes over the output. I would be possible to mod it I would think but I could never find out if it's possible. My advice would be to leave it alone since there isn't enough games on it really worth all the effort . Other options would include using RGB through it or like you said an XMD 3

The 32X (and Genesis) puts out RGB (stands for red-green-blue), which is the console's native video output. The only way to obtain this signal, unfortunately, is through a SCART cable, which uses a connection that's essentially nonexistent in this country (it originates from Europe). Of course, since the chances of you finding a TV in this country with a SCART input are almost nil, the only way to use that RGB signal is to convert it to something else (component, HDMI, VGA, etc.).

It's definitely the best quality picture you can get out of your Genesis/Sega CD/32X (even better than S-video), but it's an option that doesn't come cheap in the US.
