Re: Looking for Mech games.
I highly recommend Bulk Slash for the Saturn. It's a very arcade-like mech game, divided into several short missions. The graphics are also unbelievable for the Saturn, showing 3D at least on par with the Playstation. The controls are smooth, and make very good use of the Saturn's triggers. It's just a very fun game.

Thanks for the link!fingersmaloy wrote:Check out Mecha Damashii (http://www.mechadamashii.com/), they've got tons of reviews of mecha games.
If you're into importing, check out the Another Century's Episode games for PS2. Fan service abounds.

What about the 2003 Transformers game? It looked good, at least..

Also, if you like Gungriffon there's always the PS2 sequel, Gungriffon Blaze.

Omega Boost for the PS1 where you control a large robot in an on-rails shooter.

Future Cop LAPD is the 'spiritual' successor to the defunct Strike series from EA.
Where's my Voltron game you sons-of-sexbots

Man, Future Cop LAPD! That game used to rock my world!
Also I heard Gungriffon Blaze was a dud, but I can attest to the first two being excellent. Gungriffon 2 works with the Saturn Twinsticks, if you've got 'em.

73% on Metacritic. It's not a bad game, but I prefaced it by mentioning the first game on Saturn.

Armored Core ror Answer. I still haven't got this but I heard good things about it on this very forum. It has dual analog controls, which is essential for this type of game.

Gundam Side Story 0079 for Dreamcast is my favorite mech game. Probably the best Gundam game too.
I've got my crown and I've got my scepter.

I'm surprised I'm the only one who actually likes the Custom Robo Series. I second Gundam series; my favorite one is Gundam battle assault 2

Holy shit, I just realized no one has mentioned the Armored Core series.

I never played Heavy Gear II, but I've had it for about 5 years.Ack wrote:Might I suggest Heavy Gear II? It's a decade-old mech game for PC that features a lot of customization and varying weapons. I enjoyed it a lot back when I was playing it heavily.
I played the latest one (For Answer) on the PS3. It was fun.MrPopo wrote:Holy shit, I just realized no one has mentioned the Armored Core series.
I've heard nothing but good things for the 2003 Transformers game. There's also a new Transformers game (War on Cybertron) coming soon.
EDIT: I played the demo of War World: Tactical Combat and liked it.

I think it will work on XP, but I can't guarantee it. Vista I have no idea, but then again, what games do work with Vista?
Re: Looking for Mech games.
On your recommendation finally got this cool game. The voice acting is more cheesy then House of the Dead, a good thing! A lot to do in trying to get a good view of your Robot without getting squashed. A very mechanized feel using R1 and R2 to march the robot. "Look I'm Walking!" Same feeling of operating heavy machinery as in Dreamcast Wild Metal tank game. I get a Déjà vu of Rockem Sockem Robots in heavy mech slo mo, an intriguing effect. Thanks for the Great Find!J T wrote:To add something that hasn't been said yet, I would also highly recommend R.A.D. Robot Alchemic Drive on the PS2. It has a really unique control scheme where you control each arm of the mech with an analog stick and each leg with an L or R button. You also control a character that is remote-controlling the mech, so you have to make sure your character doesn't get squashed in the battle of the giant building-sized mechs. No other game makes your mech feel so bulky and clumsily destructive like something from a Godzilla movie. It's a wonderful and often overlooked game. The voice acting is laughably bad, which is also a major positive or a major weakness, depending on your sense of humor. I learned about this game from the Hidden Gems list on this site and I'm very glad I picked it up.
