Saturn Mod-Chip/Backup Issue

Post by deathred »

Well, i received my modchip a few days ago and have installed it on my 32-pin model 2 saturn. so far everything seems to working ok.

but i do have one question:
after a while of playing my backups, either one or two things happen, they play fine, or they freeze. Anyone have an idea of what this could be?

Last night i played Dragon Force for over 2 hours until it froze. Before that, I played Myst until it froze during the opening FMV.

I had the same problem fixed it buying the cheapest cdr media available and burning them with nero on the slowest speed. Try that if that doesn't fix it ask lordofduct or racket they got more experience.

yeah, you may want to burn them slow, i do it at 10x but u you have the option of doing it at 8x or 4x that would be even better.

I also use Verbatim media for Saturn images and burn them at 4x speed with Nero, and the burned games work fine on my Saturn.

I burn my saturn & dreamcast backups at 1x in nero using an old drive i have around. The slower speed the better. I use cheap staples media and have not had a problem yet though but i imagine a sony or hp media would b better.

Be careful when purchasing Verbatim media, you may want to run nero CD checker in nero tools.

The company CMC magnetics generally make a lot of CD-Rs for the various companies and to tell you the truth their discs are shit, yes this includes Verbatims.

BUT with Verbatims ensure you get the discs that say Data-Life Plus cause they are the real Verbatim discs that are made by Verbatim.

On Data-Life plus CD-Rs I burn at 8x and have not had a single problem although I use a swap trick and no chip, but I doubt that would make a difference.
