Looking for the perfect TV for NES/SNES/N64/GC gaming

Well I'm looking for a pefect TV for NES/SNES/N64/GC gaming that's in the 150$ price range, works with the lights guns too, and has good picture quality. Anyone know of a good TV for my needs?

Good luck. CRTs would be your only bet and they arent being made anymore.

Do a search of the forums for any posts by CRTGAMER and look at the link in his signature. It's a good source of info for old school gaming and the guys handle alone gives him cred on the subject.

CRT's would be best recommend for retro gaming and light gun support. I would check craigslist in your area they probably have some listed.

Like many have said, if you're aiming for the older light guns, you'll most likely need to get a CRT TV ("tube" or "fat" TV). In terms of finding them, not many are sold anymore, however check your local craigslist listings, like Dakinggamer87 said. In most places, people usually just give away their old, working CRT's after buying new TV's... I see a 32" Sony CRT being given away in my area right now, for example.

In terms of picture quality and also sound, if you're going to hook up the sound to the TV, it'll greatly vary. Again, check craigslist, and you can Google up reviews of the models, if given. That'd probably be the easiest and cheapest approach.

Also if you have not tried that blue links bar above in particular "Topics" and "Guides", Racketboy has provided a wealth of information on various systems.

Thanks for the tips! That "LCD vs CRT" seams like a good read, but (I'll be called a noob for this) I don't undertsand the trems used like "120hz" I don't understand those kind of trems, I feel like such a noob for saying this but, can you give me a run down of what all those fancy trems mean?

Basically the 100-120hz is the speed the screen display "draws" or Refrsh Rate. In this case it is a HD TV where a standard TV has a refresh rate of 60hz. Mainly important if you are planning to use a Lightgun.

HD also allows higher resolutions above 480i, higher a number such as 1080i means a sharper-more detailed pic.

480i The "i" means Interlace, screen draws every other line, a more jittery pic.

480p The "p" means Progressive, screen draws every line in sequence, a more stable pic.

The more video connections means video channels are separated resulting in better pic.
Example Composite has one cable and Component has 3.

Look for the larger font text in the write-up, which summarizes choices.
