Any Paper and Pencil Warriors around here?

been (mostly) playing Mutant (a Swedish RPG series), D&D (Swedish version of AD&D) and of course ye' ol' AD&D (many years ago) and Vampire the Masquerade (mainly Live, since... I like Live RPG) and Paranoia and Star Wars and Warhammer (the RPG, *not* the table-top), Warhammer 40k - Necromunda (the table-top), Warhammer 40k - Epic (the table-top), Mutant Chronicles (the "sequel" to the Mutant franchise), Hero Quest (not *really* an RPG), Space Crusade (not *really* an RPG), Warhammer Quest (not *really* an RPG) and a bunch of others...

these were all 10+ years ago, back in me younger days

there are a lot of interest for it in Sweden, but I'm not a social character, hence I've not made any friends, whom are into it (apart from the casual nutjobs, thinking they can be a DM without reading the Warhammer manual first... *sigh*)

Currently I'm playing in a Pathfinder campaign, which is basically Dungeons & Dragons 3.6. I've been playing various versions of D&D for about a decade now, starting with second edition, then moving into 3.0 and 3.5. I've tried a few other games too:

GURPS
Psion
BESM d20
Monte Cook's World of Darkness

I enjoy pen & paper RPGs, but you've got to have the right crowd for it. I've been interested in trying out a few others, such as All Flesh Must Be Eaten or Deadwood, but getting the books for those isn't easy in a small Alabama town, and I don't like playing from a pdf file.

And for the record, I'm known in my group for playing evil halfling sorcerers.

I'm envious. I got involved when TSR was the only game in town, and learnt D&D on the steps of a church. Of course, it wasn't popular then, and the whole crusade against the Satanic activity hadn't taken off. I continued to purchase and read the source material throughout my early teens -- particularly enjoying the Palladium games such as TMNT. I'd buy the books, just as a springboard for my own imagination -- circumstances made it difficult to actually get games going.

The last campaign I played was a Deadlands game, which was incredibly fun, albeit sporadic -- people's schedules rarely aligned, and eventually it dwindled and collapsed.

I occasionally leaf through my old RPG books and wish to play again. While I've convinced many of my friends to geek out in a wide array of activities, I don't think this one would fly. The social stigma against RPGs is, I'm afraid, pretty well deserved.

But, if I ever stumble upon a good group, I'm in. I'd even consider reffing a game again... Maybe some sweet Call of Cthulhu or Paranoia. I'm certainly glad to see that others are still into the hobby -- maybe it will make a popular resurgence.

I have not played any 4E yet because I have not had a group since It was released. I played Mentzer B/E/C/M/I D&D, AD&D, AD&D 2nd Ed. and 3rd Ed. I used to play Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay and Shadowrun way back in the day too. For a while in middle school I played Paranoia, Traveler and Twilight 2000 also. I was into Battletech for a while too but that is not really roleplay.

I would like to get a group to play some old school D&D. Either B/E/C/M/I or the original box set and supplements, which I have never played.

i am in a different part of the world that has no idea what is that game

but I got interested, I went on youtube, and there is almost nothing about it
I want to play but I think I am continents away from any one that do want to play.

I played the Palladium system back in the day. TMNT, Rifts, and Palladium itself. I guess a lot of people criticize palladium for being a bit numerically cumbersome, but I like that. D&D seems austere in comparison.

D&D with verison 3.5 rules, eh? I could get into that since I've been playing D&D for years with 3.5 rules and a year or two of 4.0 rules.

I kind of played warhammer 40k but it was to pricey. Was hard to talk friends into dropping 100 plus on models and then they find out they have to paint and glue them together (my fav part) Have you played Mordheim? Great game, that one stuck and that's what we all played.

Hero Quest I have not played in yearrrs. I want to find a copy but they're usually pretty expensive and hard to find. I've heard a game called Descent comes close to Hero Quest's style of play.

Also isn't larping popular over there? idk if I could ever get to that level of geekdom... although I did use to to Renaissance fairs.

Decided I'm going to pick up 4th edition, Still run my 3.5 campaign and just use pre made for 4th.
60 to pick up some 360 game I may or may not sell later or 60 to get a game that my friends will play as well and will last months.
