Do you have an ATI card? There is a known issue with some Radeon cards, I have that problem as well (4890), I "solved" it by underclocking the card some.

Nope, Nvidia. This is the first time the game has crashed on me like this, first hard crash related to a game on this box in over a year. But the pc has been wonky recently (among other issues, the mic input would mute every few seconds). Its time for me to finally install Windows 7 on it anyway - its been waiting Ive just been lazy...

Just asking because Borderlands natively causes a hard PC shutdown, which I haven't experienced in years. It may not be the OS causing it just as a heads up, it may be worth looking around their forums for card compatibility help. Have newest drivers also?

Newest stable drivers for everything but the flightstick and floppy drive (the newest for the floppy causes it to bsod). I am not sure what caused the crash. I mean it has run fine on this setup since launch. Granted I know pc games can have crazy errors randomly - heck just look at System Shock 2.

Regardless of the crash, I have been meaning to upgrade the OS for a while now (I bought 7 pro about a month and a half ago and have not had enough free time to transfer everything off of the harddrive so I can install it). It is my biggest bottleneck currently and those four cores want to run.

I've had Border crash on me 3 or 4 times since I got it, but it's always been when tabbing out. I'm on XP Pro though. No Border for me tonight as I have plans.
