What are your favorite Puzzle Games?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Pokemon Puzzle league remains one of my favorites for the N64. For the GB, I have Tetris, Brain Drain, and Mole Mania, all great puzzle games. Meteos for the DS is great too.

Most people mentioned ones I love, but here are four(ish) which deserve some attention:

Intelligent Qube (PS1) -- a little pricey, these days, but can still be found cheaper than a new game for current gen consoles. The concept is simple -- several rows of cubes in three colors (plain, green and black) come rolling towards you. Behind you, is an abyss. You lay down a marker on the floor, and when a cube rolls over it, you activate it -- causing the cube to disappear. If you lay a marker on a green cube, a 3x3 pattern on the floor lights; you can then activate this to rid yourself of, potentially, 9 cubes -- plus chain reactions if you snarf up more greens and activate the new 3x3 patterns. But, you are penalized for causing black cubes to disappear. Thats it. The patterns become increasingly complex, as the game moves on. It scores huge points for a subdued but sophisticate presentation.

Happy Trails/Loco-Motion (Intellivision) -- you have to check these out. I give a slight edge to Happy Trails, but each is unique enough to warrant playing them both. Essentially, these are slider puzzles with trails on them. In Happy Trails, a sheriff meanders down the path trying to pick up money that bandits dropped. In Locomotion, you have a train that needs to pick up passengers along the side of the board. You slide tiles to form paths. The game becomes more complex with the introduction of bad guys wandering the paths (Happy Trails), and other trains in Locomotion.

Devil Dice/Xai Jumbo/Bombastic (PS1/PS2) -- these are party games with a puzzle game engine. There is a floor of dice, and you control a little devil creature that can run on top of them, causing the dice to roll, and thus changing the face value. Once a certain number of dice of the same value are touching, (two twos, three threes, etc.), the dice begin to disappear and you score points; while they are falling, you can link more dice of the same value against them. Thats the essence of the game. Like Bomberman, there is a single player puzzle game that is fairly compelling, but the game really comes into its own in a party play multiplayer. Bombastic for the PS2 introduces dice which explode upon completion. Oh yeah, and you can run over your opponents if they're standing on the ground!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8ArqRdbtqQ This is multiplayer from Xai Jumbo, which also allows players to pick-up dice. Only two are playing. I think it supports five players. The game also uses the PSX high res mode, which looks purty.

Yeah, forgot to mention that. Also I played a crapton of Lumines on PS2 when I got it. I've barely touched it yet, but Mole Mania is fun too.

Holy crap Mole Mania! I had Mole Mania for my gameboy when i was probably 9 or so. I remember it being awesome. It's probably pretty hardcore nostalgia, but I remember loving that game to death. I think I still have it somewhere, I should find the time to play it and see how it holds up

that's a great one. Puyo Pop is great in all its forms.
Puyo-Puyo!
And my all time favourite, if you haven't played you must. Twinkle Star Sprites.
I don't really classify that as a puzzle game. More like the strange, yet fun, love child of a shoot 'em up and a puzzle game; with most of the DNA coming from the shoot 'em up side of the family. Nevertheless, it's a really fun and original game! It's sad that it's not easily available or that there aren't any other games like it.
