DS Button Help

Post by jmbarnes101 »

So my DS is outside of it's warranty so I'd have to pay $75-85 to get it fixed. I am having a problem with the right trigger as it's not working or is working only intermittently.

Does anyone know if there is an easy fix or attempt to fix this? I'm not good at working with stuff like this but I do need to get my DS fixed.

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!

75-85? damn that's pricey.
If you had the tools you could open it up and fiddle with it. Might be something as simple as dirt or just something being loose.

Dealextreme.com has some cheap tools and I think even replacement parts for the DS
I picked up my tool kit through Thinkgeek. It's a good investment and will cost you less then 20.

Yeah, it's the black and red one which is a refurbished replacement for a white one I had that went bad.

try holding the trigger to your mouth and blowing on it REAL HARD then hold the trigger down and blow real hard again, it worked for me, it's prolly just dust and shit. the ds lites are the shittiest built handhelds. nightmare to take apart a nightmare to put together.

Ugh no! This is like blowing on NES carts to get them to work. You may blow our some dust, but the moisture from your breath will cause corrosion and make it worse. You can try using canned air to do the same thing.

That only worked temporary for me; my ds was out of warranty as well and they told me the same thing :(

Actually, you're half right and half wrong. It seems that as further models were produced (the half-tone models) the quality went down to the dump. The glossier ones are actually better made (everything feels more solid, better wifi module, better fitting buttons, uniform screens in terms of color) than the ones coming out after the 2008 holiday seasons.
