What are your favorite Puzzle Games?

Post by shwisha »

Puzzle games are great... what are your favorite?

Intelligent Qube (PS1) - this game never got the attention it deserved.
Tetris (ALL) - of course.
Puzzle Fighter (Dreamcast) - My friends and I spent hours at a time playing this game.
Portal (PC/Xbox 360) - I recently got around to playing this and it's good to see some creative thinking.
Cubello (Wii) - it's like combining a shooter with tetris.
World of Goo (Wii) - w00p
Tecmo Pro - My Tecmo Super Bowl Blog.

I think I have mentioned this before, I have never been as obsessed with Tetris as most people. I like it, it is a great game (especially the Gameboy version), but after about 5 minutes I am so bored that I purposely lose. I think I am the same with all those endlessly repetitive puzzle games, though I was able to tolerate Dr. Mario much longer - my wife, by the way, is obsessed with Tetris and plays it all the time on the NES. I admit, the music is still one of my favorite game soundtracks. Anyhoo, this is why I love World of Goo. Such a creative puzzle game that I, ultimately, don't realize I am playing a puzzle game. I love this game, which reminds me, I have not played it in a long time - I should really beat this game since I bought it for a penny.

Not a genre I have a lot of experience with, but I'd pick Portal and Crush. I also consider a lot of SCUMM games to be puzzle games(lateral thinking exercises). So I'll also mention Full Throttle, Day of the Tentacle and the Monkey Island series

This. By far my favorite puzzle game of all time, and probably in my Top 25 games of all time. The most fun, most addictive, and most competitive puzzle game I've ever played.
I'm known as ZebetiteGlitch or Zeza Von Thantos on other platforms.
