Hit the booze. Hard. Just be sure to not drive or do anything that could harm you. I'm not kidding.

I had a tough breakup once, and it sucks for a long time, but you just get over it eventually. I'm aware that that's awful advice. So in the meantime, play videogames.

lol fall in love again (with someone new, i did this and it made me realize it did help), people say it will take about a year to get over someone. 3 years is about how long it takes to have someone embedded into you.
i had a 3 year relationship (from when i was 18 til i was almost 21) tried to be friends even tho i got cheated on by her, this was about a year ago. i told her i don't have time to keep people like her around. tried to be friends with good people i met thru her. she got mad and caused facebook drama and tried to get uppity on aim, so i blocked her, this was a month ago. and guess what? SHE ADDS ME ON FB AGAIN YESTERDAY!
i still have dreams about her...still being a bitch.
you're being reminded because you want to be reminded.
why'd you dump the girl?

Seriously though - If you ended it then it was probably for a good reason. I would recommend adding something new to your routine to fill the gaps. Exercise? Oh yeah - and put everything like pictures and shit in a box somewhere. Keep it just in case - but hide it out of the way. Oh and retire any video games you guys used to play. At least for a while.

Re: How to Get over a Breakup?
Sorry about the break up. It is never fun, but the sometimes the ones you have to do yourself are just excruciating. This is especially true where you really like the person for a lot of reasons, but you see that it just isn't going to work out.
My advice: Get out of town for a while. Ideally, you should move, but this is not always feasible. In any event, get out of town for as long as you can. Nothing will get you over a break up faster than going to a new location with all new people and places. You are going to be depressed for a while no matter what you do, but a change of scenery can really help.
After I broke up with a long-time girlfriend, I was definitely down for a long while. It wasn't until I moved to go to law school that I really put the relationship behind me. I credit it to the new environment coupled with the stress and excitement of moving to a new location (along with the stress of starting law school).
Also...I started dating my future wife a few months after the move; so, to be frank, the break up, as painful as it was at the time, worked out wonderfully (and I can no longer fathom why I was so upset about it at the time).

Re: How to Get over a Breakup?
I went through a bad break up once, it left me wrecked and I became addicted to codeine for almost 7 months. I thought about it for a very long time until I found another girl and now I could not care less.
The best advice I can give you is to get over it on your own, don't try to find a new girlfriend, drink, or get completely absorbed into something that really isn't worth it. Go do the things you want to do that you couldn't before because you are going to have a lot more free time on your hands. Go make straight A's or something. Just let it go, it isn't that big of a deal.
Women come and women go. Don't be a simp.
