DISC BASED XBOX EMULATORS

Post by brycester »

Are there any original xbox emulators that run off the disc? I have a mame one complete with roms and its all disc based. Looking for nes / snes/ genesis or anything really. Anyone ?

Wouldn't be too hard to make one. Just find the xbox emulator you want. Then make an xiso using Craxtion or something similar. Usually the emulator has a .xbe file in the archive/folder, it's usually called default.xbe, but if it's named something else, rename it to default.xbe and make sure it's in the root folder of the image. It needs to be here otherwise the xbox won't be able to boot it. Put the roms in the folder that the emulator expect (read the readme.txt and change the config if you have to). Then burn the disc.

Easy peasy.

I don't mean to jack this thread, but can anyone tell me how well the PS1 and N64 emulators run on the Xbox?

They run surprisingly well. many games run perfectly, with no or only minimal errors.

To any one that may be interested in that download, a little info...

The image is 4.2GB and it is split into three parts. All three parts are roughly 1.4GB. I tried download the first part and found the download speed to be inconsistent. It would sometimes spike to 80KB/s for s plit second, and sometimes it would drop to 40KB/sec. It spent most of it's time around 50 or 60KB/s. At that rate it would take 6 or 7 hours to download just that first part.

For the amount of time it would take download that image, you could find out how to make a disc yourself. And since you're making it for yourself, you can make a more customized disc (including emulators/ROMs that you want and not including ones you don't).

I also found this image on Bit Gamer, so if you're a member download it there so it doesn't take all damn day.

that was the first disc i was talking about that I have. As for download speed it is only slow if you are not a member. Joining is 6 bucks a month and gives you the xbox, gamecube, and sega sites. It is worth paying just to have it all in one site and very easy to fine.
