I honestly can't remember a thing about the story of FFX-2, but I remember it fondly because of the help the monkey spread their monkey love sidequest.

Re: Why do you hate Final Fantasy X-2?
Personally, I thought FF X told a complete story, but lots of whiners complained about the ending so with FF X 2 they got what they wanted, an absolutely horrible, pathetic continuation of what was once a good story.
Also, FF X 2 was cheap as shit. They re-used EVERYTHING from FF X. Way below the usual standards for the series. You just don't make a low budget Final Fantasy game. That's like some sin against the gaming gods.
Also, the design was aimless. You basically wandered around the world map trying to get random stuff to happen so you could piece together some semblance of a story. Yes, you had to LOOK for the story in FF X 2. It wasn't just presented to you like a game that actually was designed by intelligent people. And if you didn't trigger all the right events, you'd basically beat the game having no idea what the hell was going on
Also, it was the first FF game to my knowledge to star a female(I consider Tidus the main character of FFX, not Yuna). Rather than give us a nice strong, intelligent protaganist along the lines of Jade from Beyond Good and Evil, we get Yuna acting silly, singing bad pop and runing around pretending to be Lara Croft and wearing skimpy outfits to boot. If you want to play a game that feels like it was made for 12 year old girls, play FF X 2. It's like they could have replaced the three main characters with the Spice Girls quite frankly. Oh, and Yuna is completely out of character throughout the whole game
FF X 2 had a good combat system, one or two decent mini-games and a nice new game plus feature that other FF games should use. You got to keep all your stuff, but lost all your stats which I thought was cool. Beyond that the game was shit and easily the worst of the modern FF games(by that I mean FF7 and everything that came after it).

The main character of Final Fantasy VI is Terra. While FFVI doesn't force you to use her, she is both the first character you gain access to & she'll show up to fight Kefka at the end whether you get her back in your party or not. She also obviously has more of a stake in the entire story (what with being an Esper and everything Kefka did to her) than any other character in the game.Gamerforlife wrote: Also, it was the first FF game to my knowledge to star a female(I consider Tidus the main character of FFX, not Yuna).

You could argue that Celes co-stars as the main character, but she's also a girl.the7k wrote:The main character of Final Fantasy VI is Terra. I think it would be easier to say it is the first game to have an all female main cast.

I couldn't even make it past that intro video. Didn't play a single minute of that game.Gamerforlife wrote:...Yuna acting silly, singing bad pop...

Re: Why do you hate Final Fantasy X-2?
I just found it boring. Rented it, got to the first mission (I think the first save point, but I'm not too sure that this game has save points), closed the PS2, and never bothered with it again.
I didn't mind the all female cast, I minded that it was in no way an intelligent story, and what I found pretty stupid is that when they changed classes they changed clothes as well. This, to me, was like saying "hm, what do women like? Oh yeah CLOTHES and only CLOTHES, that's how we'll sell to the female demographic. God bless the spice girls".

Aside form all of the above, there's the fact that (assuming you liked Final Fantasy X to begin with) the game's story and everything else pretty much completely kills FFX's ending.

Personally, I don't believe FF6 even HAD a main character. The story revolved around the entire cast. Moving away from Tera quite a few times as a recall. It wasn't her story, she was just a part of it. I think that's why FF6's story was so good, so many characters and they each got fleshed out and had their story to tell within the game's larger tale. In fact FF6's ending even makes a point of pointing out the fate of every individual character and doing it in a way that gives each character the spotlight

And just to further my point, who do you see on FF7's cover art? Cloud. Who is on the cover art for FFX2? Yuna(with her palls, but she's in the center of the picture and all the advertising revolved around her). And everything we've seen for FF13 like trailers and previews revolves around Lightning, even the cover art.
By comparison, was anyone really pushed as the main character of FF6? It was different with FF X 2. Square had a female lead and wanted everyone to know it. And what an embarrassing excuse for a main character she ended up being
