I wouldn't use a CF card, they don't support TRIM and the sheer amount of read/writes of an operating system will see the card become completely unusable very quickly. Flash memory only supports a finite amount of writes before you can no longer write to it anymore, SSD drives handle data very differently than CF/SD flash etc. They spread writes out over the entire disk to maximise the life of the drive.vlame wrote:well shit they have 4tb for 300, 2 tb for 129 of normal hdds, ssd tech is new.

They're all flash memory. 'Thumb' drives spread the data around too to prevent uneven wear.Niode wrote: Flash memory only supports a finite amount of writes before you can no longer write to it anymore, SSD drives handle data very differently than CF/SD flash etc. They spread writes out over the entire disk to maximise the life of the drive.

It's worth noting that every iPod mini has a 4G
Hitachi microdrive in it.
It should be noted, however, that microdrives are slightly larger than
most Compact Flash cards (the CF type-II form factor.) They won't fit
in a type-I CF slot.
