Apparently, he was dumping millions of dollars into flying around in the company jet. They've asked him to cap his flight expenses to $200,000 per year and to compensate him for this inconvenience are comping him a $4 million dollar lump sum.
WTF.

Seriously. The life of a CEO is not of this world.
Abercrombie CEO gets paid $4 mil just to not fly so much.

Insane.
However, not all CEOs or executive people are this ridiculous.
My father and I were talking about a show called Undercover Boss (or something like that) where CEOs preten to be a normal worker, and interact with people in the company. It shows them staying at a super 8, and flying coach, and tieing their own shoes, etc., like CEOs don't normally do this.
My dad is the CEO of a (fairly) well known company (fortune 500, at least), but we didn't live in any form of extravagence when I was at home. A 3 bedoom house in the suburbs that wasnt any more or less fancy than anyone elses, and the neighborhood wasn't a super fancy one, we didn't live on a golf course with a millon dollar+ home or anything - hell he still mows his own awn and does his own landscaping and yard work.
So I know it's popular to hate on executives these days, but some of them are just regular people, they aren't all rich snobs like this A+F guy.
That being said, I'm pretty sure 4million a year is more than most CEOs make anyways. I wonder what this guys regular salary is...

The 4M is a one-time payment to not use the corporate jet or something like that. It's not the guy's regular salary.dlmvii wrote: That being said, I'm pretty sure 4million a year is more than most CEOs make anyways. I wonder what this guys regular salary is...
It does seem ridiculous to pay him to not fly.
So how many of you like to buy/shop A+F. I hope my girls don't desire that stuff when they get old enough.
Re: Abercrombie CEO gets paid $4 mil just to not fly so much.
It seems like A+F's popularity is dwindling quite a bit. When I was a kid it was all the rage, but not so much anymoregtmtnbiker wrote:The 4M is a one-time payment to not use the corporate jet or something like that. You only need to be popular long enough to get rich.dlmvii wrote:It seems like A+F's popularity is dwindling quite a bit. When I was a kid it was all the rage, but not so much anymore

I love CEO's. Mine took me out to lunch today. They keep the economy going.
Re: Abercrombie CEO gets paid $4 mil just to not fly so much.
Yeah, not all CEOs are bad, but cases like this guy from Ambercrombie & Finch just need to be called out. This kind of behavior is unacceptable. The wage disparity between some of these big business CEOs and their workers is growing and growing at an alarming rate. And to hear about someone like this guy who's practically throwing money away that could have been much more wisely invested in promoting other employees or in improving the business, especially when he appears to be tanking the company. It's just not right, but it's white collar bad behavior, and he's obviously got money, so he gets away with it. I don't think he should. I would boycott them, but I don't buy their clothes in the first place.

Nancy Pelosi spends $480,000 of our money(tax payers) a month flying back and forth from Washington to California. I'm more concerned about that then what a private business is doing that's not in the debt that our government is. The private businesses business is exactly that, their business.

Pelosi's both the speaker of the house as well as being a representative of California. I don't think it's a stretch to imagine that her frequent trips to and from Washington are work related. I certainly understand your point, but you could've picked a better example I think.

It's Abercrombie and Fitch. And their clothes got me laid in high school a lot. Well, that and my rugged good looks. My charm. My sense of humor. My panache.J T wrote:Yeah, not all CEOs are bad, but cases like this guy from Ambercrombie & Finch just need to be called out.
College, you have to depend on either an incredible liver or being extremely lucky. Or the both.
