That's true... and it's our fault in the west for letting that happen. We've giving up quality and even jobs in our countries for cheap Chinese junk. IF it has high quality control it is okay, and not ALL Chinese stuff is bad, but... they just do not have any sort of honest standards there and it's really a crapshoot if something made in a country like China will be decent or not. Kind of like buying a watch in Bangkok. It might be fine, or it might break after a day. If I can avoid it, I do not buy things made in China or other countries with similar conditions (ie. most Asian countries that aren't named Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea or Japan).Hobie-wan wrote:You guys do all realize it's pretty much all made in China anyway, right? Yup. Generally, when someone disagrees with this, it's someone who has never stepped foot in China and pulls out the ignorant "you're racist" card very quickly. This really has nothing to do with race (figured I'd throw that in there before someone calls me racist again).MrPopo wrote:He's not even kidding. One of my coworkers just got back from a trip to some of our China facilities and even the brand new buildings already are having the concrete cracking and chipping, since it's cheaper to get it re-paved every year than it is to do it right the first time. He saw 6 guys all digging a hole for a tree, whereas in the west it would be one guy with a backhoe. And the smell. Don't buy things from China; it's not worth it.
I had some great experiences in China and met wonderful Chinese people there, but I still avoid buying Chinese products. Heck, even Chinese people who can afford it avoid buying Chinese goods!!!!!

Pretty blatant statement. Definitely not true.
Anything you buy today is made from many sources. Just in electronics; the wires, resistors, capacitors, chips, PBC even the solder and flux all from different locations. Very good chance one or more of those parts are from China. Because of no OSHA, no insurance and poorly paid workers the cost of production is a lot less. Its the reason why we do buy China as well as any place that will cut costs, with little regard to the factory worker. Does that mean an inferior product? Sometime yes and sometimes no, same as any factory in any country. Depends on the company that wants to stay in business and dedication of worker who wants to keep job to feed family.
Look at Wally-Mart. How many countrys do you think are in those SKUs, World-Wide. Any store is the same scenario, thats how a business can compete to survive.
vlame purchased a defective fan, does that mean all fans produced in China with other country parts inside are bad? NO. Must be a reason why fans are still being manufactured. Hopefully vlame, yours is an easy fix.

This could be a useful lesson in learning to do pc backups also. Losing anything sucks, but at least it wasn't everything you had. Make some backups, stick them on a usb disk or email them to yourself just in case.

Salt on the wounds. You will always lose something, unless you backup during and after every session.DerekG52 wrote:This could be a useful lesson in learning to do pc backups also. QFT. I try my best to boycott Chinese made goods. Hell, I try my best to purchase American made goods but it is hard sometimes.
