What was the last movie you've seen?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Saw Neverwas (kind of) last night. I was sort of partially paying attention through most of it and then I suddenly started paying full attention and it was very awesome. The ending was great. I will rewatch this one soon so as to grasp the whole thing. The ending was very moving for me for some reason. I think the older a person is the more sad it is to watch them give up on a notion or, in this case, a reality they believed was so real for so long. Again, there is def more to it, but I have to watch it all the way through first. Just wanted to write and recommend it before I forgot.

Spoiler warning
Anyone else watched the Fourth Kind? Having Milla Jovovich blatantly lie at the very beginning wasn't really clever. I knew it was fake but they had me second-guessing until the bit with the murder-suicide. Besides, why bleep the names and show their faces? What a mess.

Hey, thanks for the clear and easily-visible spoiler warning that's totally not smaller than the standard font size for the board and hidden directly below a small image!Pulsar_t wrote: Spoiler warning

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I never understand why people get so upset when a film says based on true events or someone says it - a fictional movie is fake, having one more fake bit at the beginning is not a big deal to me. I think it can make them more fun - I do admit that it was getting a bit old with all the slasher flicks because every single one was supposedly based on actual events. But a movie like the 4th Kind being a pseudo-documentary type of film is obviously trying to pretend it is real. They could have left that speech at the beginning out and I still would have thought they wanted us to believe it was real considering the way the film was shot. I did not think it was real because they showed the faces, which would make changing names seem pointless. I look at things like this as working to set the atmosphere of the film, not trying to deceive people considering we can just google it afterwards.Pulsar_t wrote:

Still, some people could be excused if they fell for it. Unlike Paranormal Activity for instance.

Watched National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1 for the first time this weekend. Funny stuff, not as good as Mel Brooks' 80s movies but I did get a few chuckles out of it. When Bruce Willis emerged from the beach wreckage I was laughing like mad
I miss those parody movies.. Scary Movie might have been adequate but the others are crap crap crap.

Let's see...
I saw "The Informant" Friday night. Overall, I thought it was pretty boring. It had a couple of pretty funny running gags, but it's about as interesting as one would expect a movie about non-violent, white-collar crime to be. It just wasn't funny enough to work as a comedy and not captivating enough to work as a drama.
I watched "Defendor" last night. I liked the idea a lot, and I really like seeing Elias Koteas in a movie, but it really could have benefited from some editing. I think it was about half an hour too long.

1-star according to Ebert.. Think I'll pass.
Speaking of Ebert he's a mixed bag. Sometimes I totally agree with his reviews, but other times.. Clash of the Titan a 3-star movie? Oh well..

I've read two awesome scripts for two new muppet movies. Loved both, though I think only one may possibly get the green light.

If you consider him a mixed bag, and don't seem to find a strong correlation between his reviews and your experience, why let him decide which movies you'll see?Pulsar_t wrote: 1-star according to Ebert.. Think I'll pass.
