Descent coming to Wiiware!

I'm very interested to see what the controls will be like. I remember playing Forsaken (Descent clone) on my N64 and finding that it wasn't quite right, control wise. Stick was view pan, C-buttons were strafe, and A & B were forward/back. So I essentially had to choose between two of panning, strafing, and forward/back.

Crazy, don't see how it can beat this control. Too many turns and rolling for just a motion controller alone. It will be interesting to see how Interplay will pull it off. Phenomenal game, why did they skip a PS2 update?!

It can be done:

I cant read the article, but I am dying to know if it is true. I bought the Descent trilogy from GOG last year in hopes of getting my buddies to play, they might play on the Wii instead.

6dof and zaxis shooters are a small niche of the market. Mostly because they can causes severe headaches in most people. They need to release a new one, hopefully the Wii version will get some attention and we can get a reboot. I would love a new PC Descent.

Descent was practically the only game that could make me dizzy...

I played Descent 1 and 2 on the PC many years ago. Controls were hard, too easy to make mistakes in battle with the controls. Tried a bit on Forsaken on the N64 and controls were again not easy to get used to. I can't see how it will be any better on the Wii, or for that matter a game i'd be interested in getting anyway; makes you feel a bit sick playing it and can be quite disorientating.

Here is a scary fact about Descent. The community is beyond nuts. Ive been part of dedicated communities - in its heyday my Team Fortress Classic map folder was 2 gigs of constantly played maps (it got to 4 gigs by the end but that was just to show off). But that is nothing compared to the Descent fans. They still have international tournaments and monthly map pack releases for all three titles. Descent 1 came out in 1995 and a map pack was released for it last month.

Now we're talking. Wii MotionPlus perhaps?

awesome. I remember getting this on a PC gamer disk full of full version dos games a while back and enjoying it. I missed it when it first came out, but I hope this paves the way for more dos games to come to VC, XBLA and PSN. some of those games are really great and very few people know about them

I think I had that same PC Gamer disk. It also got me hooked on Star Control 2 and X-COM.
