Here are people's Gamespy IDs, which are needed for multiplayer. I know I have some others from people I've played with, but PM me or post if you want yours added to the list.

==============================
This applies to Borderlands 1
For multiplayer, the person with the least quests done should generally host otherwise a person further along will lock out quests they have already completed for the lower people. Also the person hosting the game is the only one who can pick the current quest so that the green diamond on the compass points toward the next objective.
The game supports and automatically enables voice chat if you have a mic set up in windows. If you don't have a mic you can still hear others that are talking.
Just a warning for people. Do not name 2 characters the same thing, it will cause them not to save.
This thread on the official forum lists tweaks, though I'm only using 3 myself as follows:
Go to My Documents\My Games\Borderlands\WillowGame\Config, open up WillowEngine.ini and find UseVsync and change the value to True. This will stop the tearing of the screen when you're turning or teleporting.
To skip the ad intro movies, in WillowEngine.ini find the following section and add a semicolon in front of each line as shown.
[FullScreenMovie]
;StartupMovies=2K_logo
;StartupMovies=Gearbox_logo
;StartupMovies=NVidia
;StartupMovies=Loading
;SkippableMovies=2K_logo
;SkippableMovies=Gearbox_logo
;SkippableMovies=Attract
;SkippableMovies=NVidia
In the same folder, open up WillowInput.ini and find bEnableMouseSmoothing right near the top and change the value to false. This will make looking around with the mouse more precise like a PC FPS and less floaty like a console FPS. Of course if you're used to console FPS you might like it better the way it is.

Good idea Hobie. Typically my only open times to play are Thursday evening and Sunday afternoon. Ive got characters all over the place, and even though the game REALLY penalizes you for being underleveled, I do not care. If you havent figured it out yet, apart from SDU and the occasional ammo purchase, money is fairly meaningless.

Re: Borderlands PC multiplayer meetups
Yeah, we were having issues doing missions since I was kind of leading the party but Sevin started most of the earlier games. THis meant we had a bunch of missions we weren't finding items because I couldn't remember where they were and couldn't pick them. We went to try the mine mission for Sledge since that was the one picked and didn't realize we were several levels below the guys in that area and were getting slaughtered.
Money is still useful when there's a nice 'deal of the day' in the vending machines though, and those are usually pretty expensive. Saw the most expensive I've ever seen last night. Was a $225K purple class mod I would have liked to buy, but I only had about $49K since I'd been buying ammo SDUs.

Re: Borderlands PC multiplayer meetups
I say money is useless because around New Haven the drops start becoming much better than the stuff in the machine - sans the random class mod. And worth ALOT. I mean I found a gun that was worth more money than the game can display (granted that was in the DLC and the monster was level 64), and I often throw away guns worth over 5mil.

Neither Sevin or I have the DLC stuff. I'm sure I will want it, but haven't gotten it yet.

Re: Borderlands PC multiplayer meetups
I would like to get in on this. I only ever played for like 2 or 3 hours so I am not far into the game. As a matter of fact I stopped playing at the point where you first get a vehicle. Do you have to have Steam for voice chat?

yes, Steam is what we use for voice chat.Octopod wrote:I would like to get in on this. I only ever played for like 2 or 3 hours so I am not far into the game. As a matter of fact I stopped playing at the point where you first get a vehicle. Do you have to have Steam for voice chat?

Re: Borderlands PC multiplayer meetups
The game obviously supports voice chat as it recognizes you have a mic, but we've just been using the Steam one. I'm just fetching the Manual PDF now since it apparently didn't automatically download with the game and I'd just picked up and played without it.Octopod wrote:I would like to get in on this. *edit*
Hmm, I don't see anything in the manual about voice chat at all unless I missed it. The game definitely reports if you have a mic though when you're looking at friends list in game.

Re: Borderlands PC multiplayer meetups
If I were to pick up the PC addon pack on disc for cheap will it work with the Steam version?
