The menus are XML so you just need to edit the menu xml file and you can have all your emulators in an 'emulators' folder on your startup screen, I can then choose what console I want to load (SNES, NES, Megadrive, N64) from there, they all have their own custom little console picture and logo done in the same style in photoshop. It's so much better than having XBMC as your standard dashboard, plus it loads much much quicker.
So there is an advantage to unleashX. Back to the original plan then. I'll use unleashX as my main dashboard and launch XBMC from there.

I know; I've been talking to you about it via pm for like a week.
If I replace my Thompson DVD drive with a regular PC DVD drive will I be able to open CD-Rs? I know I won't be able to play XBOX games without a DVD drive designed especially for the format. Can I play other types of media in a replacement drive? Can I use any old DVD drive, or just certain models?
My second question is can I connect an external hard drive to my XBOX? What hardware will I need to buy?
My third question: Can I control XBMC with this remote?

1) Don't know, sorry.
2) No, you can put another HDD in the system with a switch (you can put up to the three in there if you want) however you have to switch between them all, you can't use more than one at a time. http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/multicon-ide.php or here for other IDE mods http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox-tutorial ... 1|211|#211
3) yes, the xbox just takes it's inputs as a standard controller, you can use it to control XBMC.

^^ My Available List ^^ My B/S/T list
I also rent and sell PS2, Wii and XBOX softmod-kits and I collect DVD movies let me know what you have.
So does anyone know about replacing my thompson drive with a PC DVD drive? I know I won't be able to play XBOX games that way; I just want to be able to use CD-Rs.
If you have a Thompson DVD drive, you must have a first model Xbox. While you're in there, you should replace the heatsink on the GPU. If the fan is not rattling already, it will. You need a Zalman NB32 northbridge heatsink. If you need some heat sink tape, I have some extra you can have. It made a huge difference on my Xbox, and it's 100% stable without the fan.
We are prepared to live in the plain and die in the plain!
Thanks for the tip Hatta. I'll look into buying a new heatsink.
I've got another problem now. vlame sent me Softmod installer deluxe on a memory card, but I can't copy saves from memory card to my hard drive. I select the save file and hit A. The only option that comes up is "delete"; there's no "copy" command.
Could this be because I have a very old dashboard? When I select system info, it doesn't even show me a number for my dashboard version. I went to all the nearby pawn shops looking for Halo 2, Burnout Revenge, Splinter Cell 2 or 3, but I couldn't find any of those games. Is there another way I can update my dashboard?
