Lesson learnt... don't buy ANYTHING from China if you can avoid it.
Dirty, dirty country with very low standards and what are basically underpaid slave laborers making the products that the world eats up for cheap prices.
I've been to China a few times and it's a really interesting place to visit, but overall it turned me off of consciously buying anything from there for a long, long time.

He's not even kidding. One of my coworkers just got back from a trip to some of our China facilities and even the brand new buildings already are having the concrete cracking and chipping, since it's cheaper to get it re-paved every year than it is to do it right the first time. He saw 6 guys all digging a hole for a tree, whereas in the west it would be one guy with a backhoe. And the smell. Don't buy things from China; it's not worth it.Breetai wrote:Lesson learnt... don't buy ANYTHING from China if you can avoid it.

Well if you buy the majority of your components from our good friends at Newegg, this is less of an issue...
And to get off my high horse, the cheap prices tempt me aswell. By chance, anything you got out of that lot that actually works well?

You guys do all realize it's pretty much all made in China anyway, right? If it's name brand than it is at least more likely to have gone through some proper testing.MrPopo wrote:He's not even kidding. If you can find the EXACT same hard drive with the same rom revision, you might be able to swap in a good board and keep using the drive.
