should I get rid of my collection? And how much?

Post by mas »

I currently have Every yes every 2d fighter and arcade collection for the ps2. I have all the midway collections, capcom collections 1 and 2, art of fighting, street fighter, neo geo, kof, metal slug, taito legends, sonic collection, guilty gear, marvel vs capcom 2, capcom vs snk 2, world heroes, fatal fury collections. I even have the genesis collection atari and neo geo collection. I even got more anal and picked up the mortal kombat collectors edition for armageddon and deception just so that I have mk and mk ultimate. All are complete with the manual except and this sucks marvel vs capcom 2 and I have been on ebay looking for that. Now that I told all you guys what I have I have been thinking about getting rid of it on ebay. A part of me says yes because I picked all these up and I have only played mvc2 just to unlock everybody and I have not touched anything else at all. But the other part of me says no because I love fighting games and i love arcade games and I get rid of these titles I will NEVER EVER see this collection again. So I just want your opinion guys should I get rid of the collection and I will only put them as a whole I wont break them up and how much should I ask for? If you guys think I'm crazy then I will keep everything and listen to you guys. Thanks for reading this post. I love to hear other opinions from other gamers.

Play it till you die. Tell your kids ahead of time how much game complete collection will be worth decades from now, so won't end in some Goodwill dump bin.

Get rid of it. You can't take it with you.

Emulate, you gave the authors their share, so there's no bad karma there.

This thread seems to come up every other month or so. And, I myself, have thought of selling all my cartridge based games since I have a modded Xbox now. And just don't have the room at this time.

But since I can not predict the future I don't want to regret trying to buy it back. So in the box it goes. And every so often I open it to be reintroduced to an old friend of mine ...

yeah, don't sell. I posted a topic like this not that long ago, and if i would have went ahead and sold EVERYTHING, i would have been very upset at myself after i realized what i had done. Trust me, don't sell not a one game. Box up most if not all and come back to it after a while, but whatever you do, don't sell off your games. You'll regret it later on.

Keep them. I have all the classic collections too, and most are only valued at around $10-$15 right now. Granted some of the fighter games or collections are worth more, but you probably don't even have $250 worth of stuff there. They are worth a lot more than that to me as I can play all those games for a fraction of what it would cost to buy the cabs or original carts. Keep them, keep them, keep them unless you really think $200 or so would be a fair trade.

Decide for yourself.

If you want to keep it, then keep it.
If you think it's best to get rid of it, then get rid of it.
If you want to know what it's worth, do you own research and don't ask others do to the work you're too lazy to do.

Harsh, but true!

If you have the space and aren't in dire need of the money you'd make from selling them, i'd say hold on to them for a while. Give yourself 6 months to a year and if by then you still feel they're a waste of space in your home, sell 'em.

I don't think his purpose of the thread was to "ask others do to the work [he's] too lazy to do", but probably to get a few oohs and ahhs for his collection (very nice by the way - I'm into the PS2 collectsions as well) and maybe talked out of selling it.

Either way, I don't mind him asking.

My answer - keep it for sure. dsheinem summed it up perfectly.
