Why the hell does Gamestop use stickers on their games?
Why the hell does Gamestop use stickers on their games?
Who the heck likes to see "New" or "used" stickers on there games? You have to work at getting the glue off. So annoying. Also annoying is when you buy a used game online from a place such as amazon.com and it says "like new" only then do you see that it has 2 stickers on the box and ruins the apperance of it. Anyone mind as much as me or am i just picky?

Only ever a problem if they put the sticker on the actual insert imo.

Some locations (not Gamestop to my knowledge) put a sticker on the actual game media. Not so much of a problem for cartridge-based systems but extremely damaging to disc-based media.
At this point you can either try to remove the sticker and possibly remove the part of the data stored underneath or leave it and risk damaging the disc and system simultaneously as it spins off-balanced at high speed.
Two worst cases I've seen: PSone title exploded in the system and now bits of CD rattle around. Gamecube disc (smaller than normal CDs) was completely covered by sticker so that you couldn't even read the title. Small portions of the CD's upper metal portion that contains the actual data was removed while attempting to peel off the sticker while using Goo-B-Gone.
So yeah, stickers on your trapper-keeper circa 1990 are cool. Stickers on my games are not.

i think using stickers is fine for the way they display their games. just the fact that theres usually about 3 stickers, and they're all obnoxiously huge and hard to get off is what sucks. a few local retro shops in my area all use small, uniform orange stickers that are very easy to remove, so stickers aren't satan.
Oh, come on, don't leave your uncle T-Bag hangin'!

Idiot business to base the shop on a system of organization (stickers, new games already opened) that irritates - alienates a group of their consumers (collectors).
It is absolutely ridiculous that any company thinks its ok - they all do.

Someone's mentioned this before, but I can't be arsed to look it up and give credit where it's due.
Anyway, those stickers are thermal. If you heat them under a hair dryer, they peel off without a residue.
