Wanting to refurbish a GBA SP. Question though...

Post by casterofdreams »

I ripped apart a Game Boy Color and I noticed the screen was practically glued to the front case of the unit. Will I encounter the same thing when a rip open a GBA SP?

Grab a whole new case from Deal Extreme, the screen is already installed.

The main problem you will encounter is changing out the hinge, it can be a real pain. Once done it looks like new though.

I think the original screen is double sided taped in.

On a SP (at least the New Brighter Screen model) the case comes apart a lot easier. The only thing is when I ordered the replacement black case from DX it didn't come with a new front screen protector. I too had a lot of trouble with the hinge replacement, but it all went together well once I figured out how to jam the hinge parts back in. I just went with no screen protector layer, so the glass is exposed. When I put the top half back together, it held everything in place pretty well.

Its been a while since I did it and I can't remember how I did the hinge, I just remember that is was the hardest part of the job.

Ok then sounds fine to deal with.

Now second question, I want to paint it and Krylon has this Fusion for Plastic spray paint, would that work fine. I don,t want to go crazy with glossy stuff and what not but I'm a complete n00b when dealing with painting items. What would I have to do in terms of prepping before I spray and prey?

Here's the painting and decals section of Bacteria's site:

He modded a controller for me that turned out really nice.
