Download the flash video and play it through VLC. They play much better than online.
And yeah the list on EEEuser that was posted was the one I was talking about.
Netbooks
Re: Netbooks
Guys, I have to say I am not all that concerned about HD video on my netbook. SD video suits my needs just fine. I did put VLC player on there, I have it on my PC also. I took off MS Works, Office trial and the crappy trial anti-virus and I put AVG and MS Office Ultimate on there.
Is it possible for me to use the recovery disc I got from Dell to install Windows 7 Home Premium on the netbook? I do not want to spend too much more money on this thing or it kind of defeats the purpose. Besides I have had no problem with anything yet other than 780p video on youtube. I do not even really use youtube except when someone on some forum links to some stupid video.
If I put Linux on it would I still be able to play games?

Re: Netbooks
Not sure on that recovery disc, may have specific drivers just for the Dell. But I would stick with Windows over Linux, less issues of running all the various Windows programs. I wonder if XP might not be such a resource hog as WIN 7? Also with the 1.6 Ghz processor, may have trouble keeping up with high def videos. My 500MHz iMac G3 definitely struggles with Youtube videos. But I still like my old Retro.Octopod wrote:Guys, I have to say I am not all that concerned about HD video on my netbook. Judging at the games you posted:Octopod wrote: If I put Linux on it would I still be able to play games?
Might and Magic is a DOS game, so you can use DOSBox, Fallout 1 is also a DOS game, so you can use DOSBox with that andthe Windows version gets good results with WINE, and (assuming your netbook has the hardware to play it) NeverWinter Nights 2 has good results with WINE.
You should be fine with DOSBox and Wine. There's also a bunch of free games (and clones of commercial Windows games) for Linux. There's Native games too, but I'll be posting all day if I go into that.
I wouldn't think that running Windows apps would be much of a hurdle since he's on a netbook. I'd assume that a netbook user would use the same apps over and over again so having to install new programs wouldn't be much of a problem.CRTGAMER wrote:But I would stick with Windows over Linux, less issues of running all the various Windows programs.
IIRC, Win 7 is about the same as XP in resource-hoggishness. (Add that to the dictionary!)CRTGAMER wrote:I wonder if XP might not be such a resource hog as WIN 7?

Re: Netbooks
Well Windows 7 Starter is extremely limited. Hell, You can not even change your background wallpaper. But it being limited has not affected anything that matters yet. I'll just stick with it for now, I can always change it later if I want too.
Edit: One more post till my thousandth post.

Holy shit. What project director thought that up?Octopod wrote:Well Windows 7 Starter is extremely limited. Hell, You can not even change your background wallpaper.
If you do make the switch to Linux, I'll be here to help.

Re: Netbooks
Well it is close race, once again an older operating system with less bloat running faster.

Look at at the minimum specs below, this is why I stick with Win XP on my PC.
My iMAC G3 can run OSX Tiger 10.4 nothing newer due to minimum requirement.
The hard drive requirement alone tells how much more bloat is in Win 7.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sysreqs/pro.mspx
Here's What You Need to Use Windows XP Professional
PC with 300 megahertz or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233 MHz minimum required (single or dual processor system);* Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended
128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features)
1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available hard disk space
Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher-resolution video adapter and monitor
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window ... ments.aspx
If you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here's what it takes:
1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
The phases of the bugs.
Win 3.1 - bug fixed by Win for Workgroups
Win 95 - bug fixed by Win 98SE
Win Millenium - bug fixed by Win XP
Win Vista - bug fixed by Win 7
Win 8 (2012) - bug fixed by Win ??

Re: Netbooks
To be fair they used the top version of Windows for Vista and 7. They have a most "goodies" and they didn't use the Professional version of XP either to keep it somewhat leveled. The numbers may ring truth but it may be bloated IMO.CRTGAMER wrote:Well it is close race, once again an older operating system with less bloat running faster.

Re: Netbooks
Both Pro and Home have the same minimum operating requirements, a lot less then Win 7.casterofdreams wrote:To be fair they used the top version of Windows for Vista and 7.
