GC region question

Post by chupon »

So I'd like to import Mr. Driller Drill Land for my Gamecube. I'd rather the JP version over PAL so I can save, but have a few questions.

Can I unlock the GC to play NTSC J?
If so will my US Nintendo memory cards work with it?

I didn't see any guides on how to play other GC region games.

you need Gamecube Free Loader or some versions of Action Replay also have Free Loader built in. You need to use a seperate memory card for each region. If you have US saves on one, and then try to save a JP save on it, it will reformat it for that region and erase yr US saves.

Just get an Action Replay with Freeloader included. I have one, and it's very useful.

I have Japanese and U.S game saves on the same memory card, but also read that card would formated to only one country. Have a backup card in case of lost saves.

Probably best to keep separate a memory card for the imports.

I have PAL and NTSC-US saves on the same card and never had any problems.

But now you made me paranoid...

Freeloader is great for playing imports. I also use as separate memory card for imports just to be safe. :)

I am selling an extra action replay with memory card, the first version. I keep my game saves on one memory card and its fine.

Edit: nevermind it didn't delete my save file just turned it into japanse, I move it to an empty memory card and played a game and now its US again. Weird, by the way it was my Action replay card, specifically the action replay save file. Good thing I always back up my save files.
