no dude sonic pal is slower. try it with an emulator if you like
Yeah, Sonic 1 is noticeably slower in PAL 50Hz, the others not as much.
But still this doesn't really interest me, I don't feel the need to own yet another version of the classic Sonics. The originals and GameCube Mega Collection will do me fine.
Well it seems I was mistaken, Sonic 1 is indeed slower on PAL. Still, it would be nice to have a definitive portable collection of Sonic+2+3+S&K+S3&K+SCD+Spinball. 17days is the PSP worth getting for PicoDrive? What can you tell me about the status of SNES, GBA, NeoGeo, MSX and GBC emulation? Other notable emulators?

GBC emulation is very good with MasterBoy. I played a bunch of GBC games (Link's Awakening, Oracle of Ages, Oracle of Seasons and some others) flawlessly except for one, Shantae which gives a lot of emulators trouble.
Well tbh I'm not fond of the GBC but thanks anyway.
I tried this compilation and it's not bad as I first thought it would be. The lag is there, as are: the vertical squishing, "smartly" cut-off horizontal ends and worst of all the wrong sampling which makes most sound effects terrible.
Sega should have ported the games. The GBA was capable of it (no thanks to any of Sega's efforts), and the DS should be too.

What's wrong with the GBC? It had some kick ass games.
Nothing at all, it just isn't to my liking. Perhaps you will empathise with my position if I told you the DS was the first Nintendo product I ever owned. (I did play most of their games but often opted for the competition)

I want to see some proof of SegaCD running smoothly, before I'd even consider looking at a PSP
besides, JenesisDS runs all Sonic (Genesis) games perfectly, even option to choose between 50/60 hz.
and a flash-card for the DS doesn't even cost a fraction of what a PSP costs
besides, since the compilation is for DS; hence it'd be more logical to emulate on that platform(?)

Why does this present a problem?
I prefer authenticity for one. For instance when a 1-Up box is smashed and the short jingle plays, the music resets afterwards which is contrary to the original versions. The crux of it is this: The DS has enough horsepower for proper ports but Sega decided to take the easy route and buy out a homebrew developer. His efforts are excellent given the DS limitations but that doesn't automatically mean Sega are..

My main gripes with JenesisDS: 1- Horizontal screen trimming/lack of scaling and 2- inaccurate sampling frequency. I appreciate its technical abilities but the DS isn't that great for emulation.
