Splinter Cell: Conviction

It appears this sequel is set to be the shortest game in the franchise. So it's a rental for me, but I honestly wasn't expecting much after the average SC:DA (They did yap about the 'choices' given in that game, but I always thought they were laughable even compared to old interactive movies with multiple endings). They set the bar a bit high with Chaos Theory and failed to repeat the feat, but since this is just a sequel to a game and not some miraculous solution to world hunger there's no need to be overly harsh on it. Ubisoft's DRM on the PC means that the de facto rental in this case is the 360 version (unless of course you're okay with their draconian DRM)

Has anyone played it yet? Do they give the player more variety when it comes to those 'choices'?

I don't have and XBox360 or PS3, so PC is my only option. I'm boycotting until the DRM is removed or at least changes to something less awful.

Well played, it's absolutely disgusting what Ubi is doing to PC users. Kicking legitimate users out of their game with no save is not on. Especially when Ubi's servers go down through no fault of the user. They're punishing legitimate users for the sake of stopping piracy. Ring any bells?

We should boycott these companies to show that harming legitimate customers for the sake of their bottom-line IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

It cracks me up because the DRM only hurts the suckers who actually buy the game. Assassin's Creed 2 is fully cracked with a server emulation program so pirates are fine...people who buy it retail are the only ones having problems.

Ubisoft can go fuck themselves though...they should be ashamed of embracing that DRM.

On topic, I've got the game for 360 and it's actually really fun. Decent story, really nice graphics....my main gripe is that I HATE the new Sam Fisher, he's got no personality.

The co-op is really good, so if you've got a buddy to play with it might be worth a purchase, certainly a rental.

Ugh I hate his voice. It just does not match the character at all. It doesn't sound like it's Sam Fisher talking at all, it seriously could not have been voiced by a worse voice actor (I know the guy is some famous actor, I don't care, he's not been in any films that I really like, that I noticed, anyway), seriously it sounds like if Sean Connery did the voice for Nathan Drake, completely mis-matched.

It seems weird how it really bugs me know, but it didn't bug me before...

Funny Ironside should have said that.. IIRC the dispute was over his fees but it seems celebs can sugarcoat such matters to make everyone feel better about them.

Nowadays I prefer the customisable protagonist.. They might have changed the voice actor for Shepard but to me he's the same old grunt.

I wish they would use unknowns for video games. I absolutely hate it when I am playing a game and I have to hear famous actors doing the voice overs. Kills it for me.

The game is only five hours long. I predict the next Cell to be shorter than a LotR movie. Still, the split-screen co-op looks interesting. One to consider when it hits the bargain bin.

Especially when it's Samuel L. Jackson, who apparently everyone loves, or Martin Sheen.

I saw some video footage of this game and felt that this could be Ubisoft's response to Uncharted, on the Xbox 360. Does that seem like a legitimate assumption?
