Anybody else got an iPad yet?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Reminds me of my old Gameboy joke. You know where you buy the headphones, magnifier screen, light, extra speakers, comfort grips, etc., to make your portable not so portable. :D

I was checking one out today at the apple store at Flatiron (is that where you bought yours Ryan? Just curious). Huge crowd of people on them. They had more than 10 of them on display, and they were all occupied at every moment.

I played with it for a bit, and its pretty slick. Nice screen.

Its not something I would ever buy though, especially at that price range. Touch screens make me nervous in general (its why I will never buy a smartphone of any kind. I have a very physical job, and an Iphone or something like it would be destroyed in days.) so I wouldn't be able to justify it.

As for iPad.. MeeeeeehhhhHHH???

There has to be a way not to read or hear about Apple anymore. No matter how hard you keep ignoring it it's always there. I swear if one more schmuck shows me their iShit games....

If it ran OS X it would have been an instant buy from me. Being able to use Logic Pro (and it's interface customisation features) and running Max/MSP with a touchscreen would have been irresistible. Running the iPhone OS... no thanks, I already have a device that does that, why would I want another one?
What does Mac OSX do that the iPhone OS doesn't do? I've only used Mac OSX at schools, so I don't know much about it. I thought that the iPhone OS was just a stripped down Mac OSX.
It doesn't install/run OS X apps.

You know, what's funny to me about this statement is that I felt very similar when the iPod Touch came out. If I wanted all the features of the iPhone, I would have just bought an iPhone. I mean, who carries a cell phone and an iPod touch? That's a lot of crap to lug if you consider you'll also take your keys and wallet among other things. An iPod Nano seemed like a much better music player due to it's smaller size.
I actually carry a cell phone and an ipod touch. Cell phone was from years back and i got the touch as a gift. I was never even interested in the itouch when it was released. But after I got it and discovered what it can do, its like a must have now. If I could choose to buy an iphone or itouch now though, I would still buy itouch separately because battery life is a big issue. I don't want to not use functions just because I want to save battery for phone functions. The touch to me is primarily a music player, secondary being internet explorer, games and apps. As I commute by public transit frequently, I drain the battery of the touch easily.
