Re: Change the Gaming Community
And yes, I know my post was more about the industry than the community. Sorry, but those are the things that popped into my head. I don't have a prob with the community frankly, as I'm mostly a solo gamer anyway.

Re: Change the Gaming Community
There has always been the argument that the latest game with killer graphics sacrificed game play of older systems. A lot of companies do fall in that trap putting all development into the graphics sans game play. But at 60 bucks a pop on a blockbuster game I would expect the latest best photo realistic graphics and effects too. Just don't sacrifice the most important aspect, game play.Flake wrote:So if I could change one thing about the gaming community...I'd make it so people stopped expecting photo realistic HD graphics with every title that comes out. I think that expectation has seriously hurt the industry.
The change I would do, actually this has always been a problem in every generation console, is innovation. Too many repeats of basically the same game play. How many more guitar heroes, same style FPS or rehash of previous generation game do we need? Every console does have its unique great games, I hope game companies focus on that, rather then the "me too" same game.

Re: Change the Gaming Community
this seems a little silly. What about Mario Kart? Or any sports title?Gamerforlife wrote: Oh, and I would make it gaming law that every game must be either single player or multi-player. THEY CANNOT BE BOTH!! I'm sick of single player games with tacked on multi-player or multi-player games with half assed campaign modes
Although I agree with your multi-platform limiting. At least, this generation 90% of titles are multiplatform. It's not a bad thing I guess, but it still was need back in the day when consoles had exclusives.

I think graphics should be at a certain level of detail, but it should not the main part of the game. The game play should be one of the most important dynamics in the game.
I agree with CRT Gamer, their should be more innovation in the new games instead of the same stuff, their is way too many FPS games, but thats what is selling right now.

Next time someone tells you a game isn't fun because the graphics suck, tell that person that if that's the case then he's no fun because he's ugly.slowslow325 wrote:I know you may all hate me for this and I have lied about my age many times, but I'm actually 14. However, I limit myself to GameCube and back (except handhelds...). So I don't spam up your online games. If I ever feel the urge to play an online game, I won't be talking into a mic. I also don't speak curse words EVER!
Just for the record, I don't just have a GameCube. I have consoles from 2600 to Gamecube.
Also, related to the topic, I would make more kids my age play and appreciate retro games. At school, I'll be playing my GB and someone will come up and say it sucks because the graphics suck. I then go to explain that if a game was fun back then, why wouldn't it be fun today? Their answer is usually something like "Because the graphics suck".
He won't get it, but it'll still be funny.

I'm not keen on the word 'community'. If gaming enthusiasts were to go start a colony somewhere in outer space for instance their community would die out within a century

Yeah, there'd be only two women and the guys would be too nervous/too busy gaming to procreate.Pulsar_t wrote:I'm not keen on the word 'community'. If gaming enthusiasts were to go start a colony somewhere in outer space for instance their community would die out within a century
