Sega Saturn on LCD UPDATE
Re: Sega Saturn on LCD
I checked. It's the PS2 cable. Same garbage signal output.

At least an easy fix.MerRocher wrote:I checked. It's the PS2 cable. Same garbage signal output.

Re: Sega Saturn on LCD
Well I have PS2 hooked up to component generally anyways. I just used it to test the S-Video connection.

Re: Sega Saturn on LCD
Are you using component? Maye you're on the wrong setting for the Y/CB/CR vs RGB?MerRocher wrote:I wonder what it is with PS2. I noticed that on my TV, plugging PS2 into composite gives me a black and white picture with lines running up and down it. Is PS2 just weird?
As you post while I was checking mine.

Apologies in advance by my questions, if I'm wrong but confused by your statement. Do you have a dedicated separate S-Video cable? Did you mean using the component cables into a yellow composite input? If so does not work. Component, S-Video and Composite are entirely separate cables. Sometimes you can buy a combo S-Video/Composite cable for the PS2, but the Component is a completely separate cable.MerRocher wrote:Well I have PS2 hooked up to component generally anyways. Check the video configuration Hobie-wan described in the PS2 Menu System Settings. Make sure it is Y/CB/CR Component not to RGB which is Euo SCART PAL connection.

S-Video is the black, Composite is the yellow and audio is the white, red.

Component is Red, Blue and Green. Audio White and also a red one.

Re: Sega Saturn on LCD
I have a component cord and several composite cords - one of which has an extra attachment for S-Video.
I typically use the PS3 component cord for my PS2 (made by Sony), which works perfectly fine and looks great on my HDTV. As you can see a couple pages back, my TV's Component Input has a yellow circle around the green input. This doubles as a "composite" input. When you plug a yellow cord, for example, from a Sega Saturn into the yellow input it automatically detects that it is a typical composite cord and "AV" comes up as an option in the input switching screen.
However, with my PS2, if I use a composite cord with my TV it doesn't detect it as AV and produces a flawed black and white image, even though the settings on the PS2 itself are correct. It's not a problem, because I use component. But it is pretty weird. As for the S-Video, the cord just doesn't seem to work.

Re: Sega Saturn on LCD UPDATE
I updated the OP with my latest impressions. So far, it's worked for fixing Grandia, but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who has a Saturn or N64, but no S Video on their TV.
