Thinking of independently releasing an album soon.

Post by RyaNtheSlayA »

I'm thinking of independently releasing an album soon, perhaps a web based download would be in order. I've recorded about half the songs and I'm currently in the process of mixing those. If I feel up to it I will probably post some unfinished previews to give you guys an idea. I've been working on this album separate from my current bands, Polaris (and Vena, not much part of that anymore), and will probably just release it under my name. Just thought I'd let you guys know what I've been up to. Check back for some previews in the next week or so.

Also, I will never release it if I'm not happy with it, so it may not ever get released at all, but I look forward to all your feedback.

That sounds really kick ass! Self Releasing is the wave of the future, I tell ya! More and More bands I think will do this seeing as the record companies pretty much fuck bands up.

What genre of music do you play?

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

That's awesome buddy.

Try not to get too concerned about it being perfect, I think you'd regret not putting something out.

yes, do this. i cannot back this idea enough. it's not hard at all, basically just make something, burn it to a cd (or make a tape. tapes are making a comeback in certain circles.), throw some artwork and lyrics together and get it out there. DIY or die. a lot of people think they can't have nice looking releases or packaging by doing things themselves but honestly i've put together some awesome looking releases just by being resourceful and doing research. when my last band (axis & allies) released our demo we bought cardboard slipcases, i had a friend of mine do up some art and had another friend screen it onto the cardboard. we put them in poly bags, burned the cds on black cd-r's (so they don't have that "cheap" look) and wheat pasted a fold out lyric sheet printed on graph paper. it looked phenomenal, so much so that the music totally sounded like shit in comparison, haha.

this was the cover:

if you have any questions or want any links to any resources i've used, please don't hesitate to pm me. best of luck to you, man. let us know what happens, even if you choose to go the digital only route, i'm sure people here would be very interested in hearing what you have to offer.
