Nintendo Age forums
do any of you ever visit nintendo age?
i couldn't sleep last night and was browsing through their forums and came across the "Your VGA Games" thead.
link: http://nintendoage.com/forum/messagevie ... adid=19073
HOLY SHIT!! users on that forum are posting sealed games like they are going out of style. and these arn't the random sealed sport titles. these are the real fucking deal: rare and expensive. the bulk of what people were posting makes owning an open copy of panzer dragoon saga look like bitch work.
somebody in the thread said he is 6 sealed games away from owing the NTSC set. and by NTSC i am assuming he means the whole nes collection.
i knew people out there were hardcore collectors, but i never knew people were THIS hardcore. after looking at this thread i have a whole new respect for the serious collector.

Re: Nintendo Age forums
I can't believe people slab games. It was bad enough for comic books. Shit is stupid.
Re: Nintendo Age forums
That's pretty awesome, but I still don't really see the point in collecting sealed games. Most of the fun of collecting games for me is actually playing them and loving them myself, not just for the purpose of, well like a museum I guess.
I don't know, seems a little obsessive compulsive to me. But still cool to look at.

I'm not sure I follow what you're saying. What exactly is slabbing?

They send sealed games out to be graded and they lock them in hard plastic that can not be opened that displays the games grade. Like people do with comic books.
Re: Nintendo Age forums
Slab: Plastic case containing a coin that has been graded and encapsulated by a third party grading service.
In this case, VGA (Video Game Authority).
edit: I didn't know about VGA until now.... Why didn't that guy get Stadium Events slabbed?

I keep my games in cases to display, but they are to be played!

Re: Nintendo Age forums
a nintendo age forum member actually has the sealed stadium events. he posted in the thread and said that the game wouldn't get that great of a score and that he didn't want to risk shipping it. plus he said it would cost a few hundred to be graded because VGA charges a % based off the value of the game.Ziggy587 wrote: edit: I didn't know about VGA until now....
