The Kiosk not connected to Internet hence no update. That Fat runs ALL day, EVERY day, hard drive busy light flashing away running demos. I am now leaning to either just a freeken lucky console maybe tighter Sony Quality Control on Kiosk model or maybe this one has the good lead solder? A fluke just maybe 1 of the few reliable PS3 Consoles?fastbilly1 wrote:So are they using a PS3 to hack the PS3 update?
Though humorous, that is a serious question.

Looks like one person was able to get some $$ back, so maybe more will have luck if they raise a fuss. Niode, since this person cited a UK law you may be able to go the same route...

Sorry, I should have specified that I dont really care about the kiosk, I was talking about the actual console.
Re: Sony removing OtherOS feature in 3.21 PS3 update
They got the money back from Amazon, not Sony. That's just plain immoral. It's not Amazon's fault that Sony removed features years later. As far as Amazon is concerned, they sold a product that included the advertised features. Anyone who does this is no better than the scumbags at Sony. Two wrongs don't make a right.dsheinem wrote:http://kotaku.com/5512880/playstation-3 ... sing-linux

Now if Sony themselves gave all of the PS3 Fat owners $100, that would be a different story.

No need to apologize, CRTgamer seems to always think whoever posts after him is talking to him.fastbilly1 wrote:Sorry, I should have specified that I dont really care about the kiosk, I was talking about the actual console.
@Inazuma
I think it's good that amazon refunded the money (credit wise). While sony might not listen to us and it would be hard to make a joint lawsuit from consumers alone. If Amazon has to keep giving refunds they can make the case for us against Sony or better yet stop selling their products till something is done. I don't know how much of Sony's sells comes from Amazon, but I am sure its nothing to sneeze at.

I was just adding info about a long running non-YLOD Fat PS3 inside a Kisok.

If Amazon manages to turn around and successfully sue Sony to get their money back, that would be great but Amazon does not deserve to lose money from Sony's fuck up.pepharytheworm wrote: @Inazuma

I agree with this. I don't think it was bad to request the refund from Amazon. Amazon in turn should then deal with Sony. Amazon has more clout than a handful of users.pepharytheworm wrote: @Inazuma

IMO I think it would be interesting if every European user with a fat tried to get a partial refund from their respective sellers - it is a fact that Europe got "shafted" with higher retail prices* and got less out of their hardware to boot (e.g. no PS2 hardware).
* Granted that part of that was simply due to higher taxes, but I don't think all of it was that and the U.K. in particular has similar taxes as Euro countries and they still paid a bit more for launch PS3s.

Hey, I don't think Amazon deserves it just like I don't think we the consumers deserve what Sony has done. But since its UK law we are not screwing Amazon, Sony is by selling them a product with certain features to sell to others and then taking away certain features.Inazuma wrote:If Amazon manages to turn around and successfully sue Sony to get their money back, that would be great but Amazon does not deserve to lose money from Sony's fuck up.pepharytheworm wrote: @Inazuma

Usually if you consult a lawyer about these types of situations they will advise you to sue the person/company right about you in the supply chain. In this case Amazon. From there it should trickle up to the problem in the chain, in the example Sony.
