So its been semi-announced that the next generation of Pokemon is labeled as the 5th generation. The funny thing it that its been announced for the current DS, NOT the 3DS.
I think its a smart move due to the fact that it can invigorate sales for the DS, but stupid because if sold as a launch title for the 3DS, it will print money like a portable has never done before.

I disagree, it could be that they don't release it for the 3ds because it won't benefit from the technology. Plus it will sell more as a ds game.

I am willing to bet this comes even after the 3DS is released. 3DS is supposed to be playable at E3 so it should be on the market well before generation 5.5 is out.

I am surprised it wasn't pushed to the 3DS. It would have really pushed hardware sales. Plus every generation of the series came out on different platforms so it's odd they break that tradition. That said I am happy they aren't whoring the game with 3d gimmicks. A year or so after the system is out they should start trying doing some innovating stuff with it though.

hmmm i think its a wise move to stick to the current DS for this release, if this was on the 3DS for a launch title i dont think it will sell as much, lets just hope this generation doesnt suck as much as gen 3

I wonder if they'll include a bonus if you play it on the 3DS (iirc it'll be backwards compatible). Remember how the two Zelda Oracle games had bonus features on the GBA?

Ugh. I hate the new Pokemon games. I can't memorize all the Pokemon very easily now, and there are just too many. I preferred the first 150, maybe 250. This is just too much. Plus, they are all just rehashes of old Pokemon, whether it be another "evolution" for a Pokemon or just a crap Knock off.
